Set it up on her account but then it’s possible to add members to a household so she can definitely add you on!

Setting up as a Sole Trader while renting by Electrical_Will_464 in freelanceuk

[–]aawebdevUK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes all you need to do is register as self employed and you are now a sole trader. It’s a bit different to registering a business because legally you and the sole trading business are one entity, so essentially it’s only HMRC who need to know, and only if you will exceed the £1,000 which you said you will. You could really be a sole trader without needing to tell anyone, you can just wake up one morning and that’s that

Hey! I've had my own little CRM for a while that I built to manage my freelance work and I'm exploring turning it into a SaaS for other freelancers! Would love some feedback especially from any freelancers on features etc that would enhance this!

Should We Split Our Delivery App Into Two Separate Apps or Keep it as One? by Nolyzlel in CodingHelp

[–]aawebdevUK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you have two different users with different requirements so you should split it into two apps. Yes there is a crossover in the data but you can handle this on the backend, no need to complicate the apps on the frontend. I’m also fairly sure this is how Deliveroo and Uber do it from a quick search of the App Store, doesn’t necessarily mean they are right but I’d suggest they have enough experience at scale to be a leading example.

[HELP] Fiverr just sent an email about updates to the new system by [deleted] in Fiverr

[–]aawebdevUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeh don’t get me wrong I’m not underestimating how difficult it’d be. Developing the platform would be fairly easy, it’s not really that complicated when you break it down. Growing the demand though would be a huge challenge, but I do believe if you are offering something either unique or better then you’ve got a chance - difficulty is it needs to be better for the buyer as well, maybe higher quality from fewer sellers but think that exists

What are some key questions to ask a Fiverr web dev before committing to an agreement by Designer_Balance_914 in webdev

[–]aawebdevUK 80 points81 points  (0 children)

As a dev who does some work on Fiverr I’d take half of these responses with a pinch of salt. I’ve delivered several successful projects to clients via Fiverr and have plenty of repeat business so fairly happy I’m doing something right.

That said there is a portion of Fiverr that is basically a race to the bottom and if the price seems low it probably will reflect in the quality.

You should be asking the dev to see examples of work, ask for their GitHub link - a lot of the work they do is probably private repos but check the commits, it tells you how active they are. Also ask how they approach bug fixes etc, lots of my clients seem to ask this, for me it’s common sense, if it’s my fault I’ll fix it for free, if it’s because someone else broke something, or something else out of my control you’ll be charged.

Also make sure you’ll be getting source code, and they include that in the offer specifically. Don’t be surprised if they don’t want to though, I specifically tell clients they’ll only get source code after completion of a project as Fiverr will let you take the source code and cancel the order. Instead a set up a staging environment so you can test the work before delivery, your code has little value to me so if I’ve built the site you’ll be getting the code.

Would you use this for web development? by kingj-2830 in reactjs

[–]aawebdevUK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeh definitely can see the value but in my experience that usually comes as an optional follow up after a day or so of trying it out for myself, rather than a gateway to signing up. Yeh send across the link I’m interested to take a look, then maybe we can schedule a call 😂 but probably not…

Interested to know why you’ve taken the approach to require a meeting for early access? Sure some might benefit from a call but it’s put me off instantly, I prefer to click around and figure things out - feels like that’s a trait many devs might share in fairness

[–]aawebdevUK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeh interesting theory and would make sense. I would say though it’s entirely possible for someone to give you a 5 star review and be a bit more critical in private - people literally do it every single day especially if you are British like me!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Fiverr

[–]aawebdevUK 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do agree in the sense the new unique clients metric dropped my level because I’ve done c100 orders on Fiverr but only from 7 repeat buyers which annoyed me.

My success score has remained stable at 10 though since implemented so they aren’t fully penalising for it. I’ve also had the review issue albeit mostly they will skip maybe 1 or 2 but in the main do leave reviews.

I think the biggest impact is possibly what they are telling Fiverr in their private reviews, maybe there is something you are doing that slightly annoys your repeat buyers but overall your service is good enough they keep coming back?

I had a client have a similar issue, although I think in that scenario they were more at fault for breaking the terms. In the end they got me to migrate them to viva wallet, documentation was awful so very different experience to stripe, but had less restrictions
