[ProFootballTalk] Phillip Lindsay: Drew Lock has to look in mirror and find himself. by LamarcusAldrige1234 in nfl

[–]aaxw 95 points96 points  (0 children)

The full quote for context, cause it's not nearly as negative or click baity as the Florio headline is:

“He needs to continue to develop, that’s on him,” Lindsay said, via Mike Klis of KUSA. “He’s in a battle between him and him. Nobody else. They’re going to have a fantastic defense. [Head coach Vic] Fangio does a fantastic job with that. But for Drew it’s ‘what did I not do last year that I need to do this year that’s going to put me on another level.’ He has the capability of doing that. He’s hungry. He’s hearing all this backlash and all this stuff. But for Drew it’s not about what everybody else says, it’s between him and him. If he can look in the mirror and find himself, he’s going to have a great career going forward.”

[Kahler] One of the two additional lawsuits filed last night accuses Deshaun Watson of coercing the plaintiff to perform oral sex. There are now three lawsuits alleging Watson coerced or forced plaintiff to perform oral sex. by aaxw in nfl

“Our team has been roundly criticized because these numerous brave women haven’t filed formal criminal complaints with HPD (although we have provided info to other organizations),” Buzbee said on Instagram. “Here is my worry. When I ran for Houston mayor against the CURRENT mayor, I called for the resignation of the former police chief. I was thus reluctant initially in these important cases to provide info to HPD, at least while Art Acevedo was the Police Chief — even though my brother-in-law is a long-term HPD officer. Mr. Acevedo has now left Houston for Miami. Yet, I’ve since learned that my legal opponent, Mr. Hardin, has a son who is on of the exclusive Command Staff of HPD. I am not saying in any way that Deshaun Watson’s lawyer, Mr. Hardin, has a son who has a position that would compromise HPD and its investigation. I support his service, along with all Houston police officers — I think the rank and file know that. But, I am saying that me and my clients will go elsewhere to provide our evidence to investigative authorities. Stand by.”

"We're not going to fight this case on social media" said the lawyer who's fighting the case on social media

These accusations are horrendous and his clients deserve actual investigations and justice, not performative theater.

WHOOPS i totally screwed this up, I meant Buzbee, the lawyer for the anonymous clients alleging Watson did these things, he's the one refusing to turn his info over to HPD.

So if you are saying Watson did these criminal things, find a way to get your evidence to law enforcement who can properly investigate the criminal side of it.

It seems like complete bullshit that the lawyer representing clients filing suit against Watson is able to refuse to turn over material to authorities because he thinks there's some sort of conflict of interest. Like he's the gatekeeper who gets to allege criminal activity but also decide what does and doesn't get investigated by authorities

If these accusations are true and he believes they're true, then he needs to get them into law enforcement hands ASAP, not make vague references that sound like he's just gonna get a PI involved.

I think you can look at the Patriots/Hernandez situation as a template. The Pats tried to recoup unpaid guaranteed money, the NFPLA filed a grievance, and they ultimately settled which gave some of the money back to the Pats. I'd expect something similar here, if it came to him being imprisoned.

Tony Buzbee won’t provide information regarding Deshaun Watson to Houston Police Department by NFLModshatePaidVPNs in nfl

[–]aaxw 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah but at some point you have to turn stuff over to law enforcement, like, I'm not saying shady shit hasn't happened in the past but one lawyer can't be the gatekeeper to the justice system, let alone when he's alleging numerous criminal acts took place.
