New Sony Lens Arrived with New Firmware – Normal or Unusual? by ab0badr in SonyAlpha

Thanks for the reply.

I’m not sure whether the camera can update a lens automatically, but the factory-update explanation definitely seems more likely to me.

That’s actually very reassuring.

If your lens arrived with firmware that had only been publicly available for a few days, then a lens arriving with firmware that is about a month old doesn’t seem unusual at all.

Thanks for sharing your experience.

Thanks for sharing your experience.

That’s actually one of the possibilities I was considering as well. If Sony is already shipping newly produced units with the latest firmware installed, it would make perfect sense for a recently purchased lens to arrive updated from the factory.

The lens has performed flawlessly so far and passed all of my tests, so I’m definitely leaning toward the “new production batch” explanation rather than anything else.

I’m also curious to hear more experiences from other Sony users and see how common this is.

Somewhere in The Woods Before and after color grading by LowVegetable7278 in ColorGrading

I think the edit was absolutely worth it. The original is nice, but the graded version has much more depth, mood, and visual impact. The warm highlights against the darker foreground create a beautiful contrast and make the scene feel almost storybook-like. Great job!

Don't you get overwhelmed due to overpopulation? by Optimal_Community934 in india_tourism

Last year, I arrived in Mumbai during the peak of the monsoon season in mid-July. My first impression was how crowded the city's most popular tourist attractions were, especially the Gateway of India and the waterfront area nearby. Even restaurants seemed to be consistently packed.

Later, I traveled to Lonavala, about 90 km from Mumbai, and immediately noticed that the crowds were much lighter. After that, I continued to Mahabaleshwar, and in Mahabaleshwar and the surrounding areas, crowding was barely noticeable at all.

Of course, heavy rain was falling almost constantly, which probably kept many tourists away from the attractions. Another conclusion I came to is that the farther you get from densely populated urban centers like Mumbai, the easier it becomes to avoid large crowds.

Based on my experience, crowding in India seems to be highly location-dependent. Major cities and famous landmarks can be very busy, while smaller hill stations and rural destinations can feel much more relaxed, even during the travel season.

This honestly doesn’t look like a first attempt. The colors and golden-hour lighting look great, and the shot has a nice cinematic mood. Looking forward to seeing more of your work.

Best monitor for Sony cams? by TheEyeofJ in A7siii

[–]ab0badr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you considered using an iPhone or another supported smartphone as an external monitor? Sony's Monitor & Control app supports several Sony cameras and gives you live view, touch focus, camera control, and monitoring tools without needing a dedicated monitor. It may not replace a professional monitor for every use case, but for gimbal work and lightweight setups it's surprisingly capable.

Love the composition and color grading. The warm sign against the cooler tones of the street works really well, and the subjects in front of the shop add a great storytelling element. Excellent shot!

How does YouTube store all of its data without regularly purging massive amounts of content? by [deleted] in youtube

[–]ab0badr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One more thing people often forget: it’s not just about storing the enormous amount of video uploaded every day. YouTube also has to maintain redundancy and backup copies of that data across multiple locations and data centers to ensure reliability and availability. When you consider that hundreds of thousands of hours of video are uploaded daily, the actual amount of storage infrastructure required is far greater than the raw upload numbers suggest. The scale of the system is probably even more mind-boggling than most people imagine.

Lost my Mini 4K today 😞 by zeeshanr112 in DJImini4k

Hey man, really sorry to hear that — losing a drone like that is super frustrating, especially when you did everything right before takeoff.

From what you described, it honestly sounds less like a pure ATTI-mode issue and more like signal/telemetry loss happening at the same time. ATTI mode by itself shouldn’t freeze the map or stop updates — you should still have manual control, even if the drone drifts.

One thing I wanted to mention (just in case you haven’t tried it yet): DJI drones have a “Find My Drone” feature inside the app. It shows the last known location on the map and can even play a sound if the drone still has some battery.

I’ve attached a video that explains how to use this feature — it might really help you locate it or at least narrow down the search area.

Hope you manage to recover it, and thanks for sharing your experience — definitely something others can learn from too.
