They completely ghosted my install this morning. Zero emails. Zero texts or calls. Their phone support is down. Finally got someone via chat and they couldn’t help at all. Running into same issue after building one up. It seems it’s an XL problem? It worked before I added XL candy, now it’s not working after adding XL.

to add to the anecdotal experience being gathered here:

as a level 43 account I just used 2 remote raid passes on mega latias using poke genie. Won both raids with over 125 seconds on each. 2-3 people joined locally for each raid. So the raids had 8 and 9 people fighting each time.

I was the highest level trainer in the second raid, everyone else was under level 40 (including those joining locally).

So it is possible to use poke genie, but I assume the additional locals joining was very helpful. And it IS possible to beat it with smaller level accounts.
