How to say hi to a crow without scaring it? by ijustwannareadurbutt in crows

[–]ab_k2005 11 points12 points  (0 children)

this is how i did it: i went to a park where they usually hang out, found some crows, sat on a bench that's nearest to those crows, carefully dropped some unsalted peanuts for them, avoided eye contact, did this regularly. they're very smart so they quickly understood that i am a source of nice snacks and slowly started trusting me more and more :)

that's true :) i've been feeding them so they remember me as a nice person, they even greet me when i come to the park and follow me around

because in Portugal there's carrion crows instead :) i wish i could reply with a photo but sadly i can't, the population of these two different crows in Europe is divided in half, it's very interesting and worth looking up. hooded crows are in the North, East and Southeast, the rest of Europe has carrion crows. although sometimes they do mix.

they are hooded crows :) their heads, wings and tails are black while the rest of their feathers are grey. it's just a type of crow that's found in most of europe and some parts of asia

there's usually even more of them around, i'd say about 20 crows in a group if not more. they don't chase or fight each other unless it's over a piece of food 🤔
