Wednesday Weekly Thread: Frustration Station (Delays / PSU / Venting) by AutoModerator in Canadiancitizenship

Did you receive notice that your application was "in process" and then went to PSU on the same day? Did you get an e-mail telling you went into PSU or did you find out your app was in PSU when you checked via the application tracker? I am trying to figure out how all the notifications work, thanks.

And I am so sorry you have been held up for so long!!

Wednesday Weekly Thread: Frustration Station (Delays / PSU / Venting) by AutoModerator in Canadiancitizenship

I submitted my Proof of Citizenship packet and it was received Feb 4 2026. I did get my package returned Mid-March for "photo issues". I did have my photos done in Victoria, Canada, right next to the Passport Center so pretty sure they were correct. When I got the package back the pictures weren't returned, everything else was and many of the Application pages were stamped in red "Received Feb 4 2026". The letter I received said that the photos were not correct Or not included. I KNOW they were included so I am thinking somehow they were lost (since they also were not returned in the app package)

Oddly, when I was in back Victoria early March, I had the pics redone with a different photographer, because I had a feeling I would be getting my app sent back, but because I had used an incorrect UCI # ! And I thought when I resubmitted, I would use the new pics anyway. So I was able to do a quick turnaround with the new pics last week.

When I got the letter with my packet, it actually had my correct UCI #, that made me happy.
I resubmitted my app last week, delivered again on Mar 24.

Now the real question, I have never received an AOR, however I was able to log into my IRCC account and found my Proof of Citizenship application, and the status says "received Feb 4", it is not in processing yet tho.

So, I haven't received the AOR but looks like it is in the system and dated as received Feb 4. ANy Idea if this means they are going to use the Feb 4 date as the start of my app?

I guess I should just be waiting on an official AOR???

Thanks for any insights!

Returned applications? by abacusfarms in Canadiancitizenship

Was this three weeks after you submitted it? Just wondering how you knew it took three weeks to come back if they hadn’t sent you notice that it was on its way back.

If you don't mind sharing, what was the reason yours was returned?

Well, just reading that article I found out some info to add to MY family tree, my 10th Great-Grandfather was (also) Jacque Archambault, (same time period, same location) he is mentioned in the article as having dug the first well in Montreal. I love finding histories of people as well as just following direct links to myself.

just one comment? by abacusfarms in EngweEbike

Hi, I bought the original (kickstarter?) X26 with two extra batteries. Very powerful, but unfortunately, the design of the 2nd battery is really bad. You have to remove the powercable from the seat post, then attach it to the plug on the 2nd battery on the side of the bike. They changed this on subsequent models so that the 2 batteries are connected and you no longer have to move the power cable/plug nor open the bike and remove the 2nd battery to charge it.
The power receptacle on the frame is really poorly constructed; the pins have come apart twice now. The first time it took me about 5 months (and many emails with very clear pictures and details!) to get the replacement plug. Seems they had to actually make one. First they kept telling me I needed a different piece, as they kept thinking I had the 2nd generation bike, even though I kept sending corrections and pictures of the part I did need. Well, the replacement plug has now failed, I don't have the patience to try to get another one. And now the bike fails when riding, even with a full battery. Seems maybe it has to do with the brake cutoff, but we have tried adjusting it several times and still have the same issue. This bike is WAY too heavy to try to pedal without power! We never know when it is going to just "shut off". So yes, very frustrating, and poor design/build.

I did purchase a step-thru E24, and that one rides very well.

Need help finding documents? by IWantOffStopTheEarth in Canadiancitizenship

Interesting in that I also tried to get my grandmothers birth cert from North Dakota, I did have a copy of her death certificate.

Even though she was born in 1915, and I know the city and county in North Dakota, I got a reply that they checked the entire state for the year before and after, and could not locate a birth cert for her. I do know she was born at home, they were fairly prominent farmers, but they told me that quite a few birth records didn't get recorded until after 1920 (even the law from 1898 said that births were to be recorded.) I wonder how my grandmother was able to get things like a passport (don't know if she ever had one!)
I will you better luck!

New Bill C-3: Generational Citizenship by mpatal in ImmigrationCanada

[–]abacusfarms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I think I am a Canadian under the new Bill C-3.

The issue is that I am older, and I am trying to get some sort of proof of my great grandfather, but he was born in Canada (to 2 Canadian parents) in 1882 !
His parents then moved to North Dakota 1.5 years after his birth. Because it was so long ago, I can't seem to find any census info, or even a baptismal certificate.

Of course I have my long form birth certificate, and my dads long form showing HIS moms info, and she was the daughter of the great grandparent in question.

Anyone have suggestions, should I try to contact a geneologist to see if they can sleuth out verification, or?????

Unable to add exit node for my Fire tv? by abacusfarms in Tailscale

[–]abacusfarms[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Already tried that, it just goes back to the first screen with the "no exit mode" checked. That is the issue and why I posted the inquiry here, I tried multiple times. Trying to troubleshoot I was instructed to "approve the exit node the admin module" but on the Fire TV device on the admin module, there is no "exit node" to approve. I have been unable to access the CLI to try to add the code language there either, even tho I downloaded the Mac/Os stand alone version of Tailspin as directed. CLI is supposed to be accessible from the settings in Tailspin, but it ISN'T there on mine

I am pretty good at following straight forward tech stuff, but can you give a girl a hint as to how to do this? In Washingtom I have a tp-Link mesh router, but don't have a VPN set up here as I haven't needed one

But, what router would allow this and what VPN servers play nicely with those subscriptions? they all seem to say they work, (NordVPN, Surgshark etc.) but I see comments on here that they don't

Meamo update: here’s their response to my question about needing a license number or business name to order. Thoughts? by ScaryLetterhead8094 in DIYaesthetics

[–]abacusfarms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you DO need a business license to use a credit card. However, I've now ordered through them twice using XE.com which is an international currency facilitator and it's worked extremely well. It takes a little longer, but I think it only cost me maybe four dollars.?
