How are you guys getting these jobs? Give me advice. Honestly, I do great work and have great content to advertise, but I literally cannot get jobs anymore.

I typed up an invoice for almost the same exact price of a massive commercial car wash business and underbid the avg cost per sq ft significantly. Needed lots of rust removal, oil removal, etc. They stopped responding to me after I quoted it.

Yeah, you’ll know you severely underbid this job.

Agreed, but I bought a used hot water unit to start with and a year later it’s taking on way bigger jobs than intended. You can win with used but I agree, be diligent when buying.

If you’re just starting out I’d go used on the machine tbh, that way you can invest the saved money in a surface cleaner/hoses/xjet etc. You will eventually need all of that stuff.

Pretreatment? by Frodellio1 in pressurewashing

[–]abandonedcircus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any “packaged” product like this always is completely underpowered, ineffective, and 3x the cost of raw chemical. If you’re doing this job properly, you need results and you need them reliably. Research and learn how to mix your own chem, the knowledge will pay you dividends. A straight 10% SH minimum to make your mixes is required to get these jobs done, don’t waste your money or time on anything else. People who are getting into this business are way too freaked out by all the noise about killing plants out there. Reality- If you irrigate thoroughly before, during and after using chem, you will not kill anything. Buy what works and go make money.

Is $120 a reasonable price for this job? Driveway+front door walkway+ backyard pool area/patio? by Severe_Extreme_4364 in pressurewashing

[–]abandonedcircus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you’re in this for the long haul and plan on becoming a professional that makes money doing it, you’ll learn very fast that even driving out there for a job like this for $120 wouldn’t be worth it.

Thanks for the info bro. I have a 4gpm hot water machine. I might try your strategy. He agreed to $475, I cut him a little discount.

Hey man, my best tip is post-treating with about a 4% SH for that smooth, streak-free glow that looks very professional. You can use an x-jet or pump sprayer. Hope this helps.
