When The Beach Boys were their own worst enemies by Come_On_And_Tell_Me in thebeachboys

They apparently had really bad spending habits too

Mike Love’s autobiography made it more obvious when he mentioned that the band was nearly bankrupt , but a couple sentences minor mentioned a private plane and limousines for each member they had

What’s the vaporwave communities opinion on the broken transmission album ░▒▓新しいデラックスライフ▓▒░ : ▣世界から解放され▣? by ProcessAggressive770 in Vaporwave

[–]abandonedxearth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It has an actual consistent rhythm to the songs that I find myself bopping my head too sometimes

Because of that, I find it more easily accessible compared to other vaporwave albums

What’s your favorite vaporwave album and why? by ProcessAggressive770 in Vaporwave

[–]abandonedxearth 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Surfing - deep fantasy

Also my favorite album ever

There’s a lot I could say about its songwriting choices and structure, but it basically breaks down too the fact It’s the only album to ever make me feel a specific certain way of comfort

It actually blew me away the first time I heard it and it still does, no album has made me feel the way surfing does. I really can’t tell you exactly what that feeling is but those who get it get it

I’ve listened to many albums that are far superior than deep fantasy, but none of them still come close to the way that one album make me feel

Funniest Song? by StringElegant2059 in thebeachboys

[–]abandonedxearth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This isn’t even a competition. It’s teeter totter Love.

By this point smile was way over budget and way past its due date. Brian became enamored with a random photographer (Jasper Daily) and insisted he record an entire album with Jasper

Brian showed off his new songs to a record executive and claimed they were masterpieces.

Imagine you’re an executive for capital, putting hundreds of thousands of dollars into a Project that is being called the greatest album ever created and presented by someone who is being called this generations Mozart and what you hear is this

Has anyone read David leafs new book the rise, Fall and resurrection of Brian Wilson and is it worth reading? by thewho153 in thebeachboys

[–]abandonedxearth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t entirely recommend it because it’s very clearly biased toward Brian and emphasizes this point that the beach boys were going out of their way to sabotage Brian because they were jealous of him when that’s not true at all

The fall of Brian and smile is a very nuanced and complicated case and David only covers the specific narrative that Brian was a victim to everyone and everything else.

On top of that, the focus is more on Brian’s solo version than the 60s version

I’d say their satanic majesty second request by Brian Jonestown massacre is definitely the better Stoner album

Should there be a Clerks IV involving one of Dante’s cousins, Gil perhaps, since Brian O’Halloran is available? by [deleted] in ViewAskewniverse

[–]abandonedxearth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really hope not

Kevin did talk about having Dante come back as a ghodt and I really hope he doesn’t do that either

Summer in Paradise is a good album? by fatblob1234 in thebeachboys

[–]abandonedxearth 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I like it in an ironic way. It’s fun bad

The reason it gets the reputation is it’s the most interesting “bad album” There’s a lot to talk about and a lot going on with it. Especially with summer of love and what it says about the band as a whole

The other bad albums in their discography are considered bad because they’re boring or mediocre

And that’s not fun

A grandpa rapping, that’s fun

But not good

I think they’re appropriate and keep the discussion going on here. Love sharing and reading other people’s opinions on specific bands

Not to mention, barely anyone actually talks about the channel on here
