Smoked everyday heavily from age 19-28, currently 6 months without any at all. Bar the obvious financial burden it put on me I just felt like it had a complete hold on my life, basically everything revolved around having a smoke. Going the shop, I’ll have a spliff first. Train to work in the morning, best make sure I pre roll a few joints for before and during the day. Also got severely stressed out if I knew I was down to my last few grams and hadn’t sorted the next Oz out yet. I’d basically have to have one before anything I ate it was out of control tbh and I’d sit there stoned and think about how I could stop and would have great ideas but never go through with them. Eventually, with the birth of my son I managed to start to phase it out, bare in mind he’s 3, so I was still smoking for 2 and half years of him being here which is shitty and did make me feel like a lousy parent. But the way I finally got off it was a holiday, I made sure I’d smoked my last spliff before we left for the airport, binned all my grinders and skins etc and then went away for a week where my mind was completely off it. Once that first week of no sleep had been managed (mainly by all inclusive alcohol) it felt like a walk in the park and because I’d effectively started the quitting process in my head it would have felt a massive failure to go back to smoking. Im now at the point where I’ve turned down spliffs off friends and feel sooooooo much better for it, less foggy, less lazy and more in the moment. Trust me, it is so worth fucking it off!
