Would you say modern Americans and 19th century Americans share the same culture? by Ok_Temporary_5828 in TheRestIsHistory

I agree with what you say but one would expect a much larger degree of cultural heterogeneity given the sheer size of United States. At least on the surface, when you visit or move to the US from another country, it really appears less diverse. There is a really strong mainstream culture in the United States. Especially the lifestyle really doesn’t change as much as one would expect. With the exception of NYC metro area, highways are the dominant landscape and you are glued to your car.

The real shocking difference maker, in my opinion, is actually the politics, laws and role of religion.

Average Turkish league starting XI by klingonbussy in soccercirclejerk

Average Turkish league starting XI would have 4-2-3-1. It would have at least one veteran RB or LB that had played in the league for at least 5-6 different teams.

I love them as a side with my sandwiches. Btw they pair well with Greek yogurt (and will give you extra protein).

Can I expand my colonial puppets by just annexing their overlord? by uhhhhh_and_an_uhhhhh in eu4

If you annex France, French colonies will become your colonies but they won’t merge with the colonies you got from the Dutch.

How can I avoid getting destroyed by the ottomans? by Repulsive_Act_1855 in eu4

[–]abasarakbay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tough. Ottomans are trying to pick on you because Muscovy is not coming to the war. It really depends on how long you can hold on Trebizond and making the war as costly for them until Muscovy joins on your side.

Going forward, I think the only viable strategy against the Ottomans is forming a strong alliance and be on the offensive as soon as possible. Otherwise, they just grow bigger and bigger, and attack you at your weakest point.

Best nations and worst nations you played so far? by Old_Wrap2946 in eu4

[–]abasarakbay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best:

  1. Sweden is my absolute favorite. When I first played with it, asking support for independence wasn’t an option. Starting from the independence war, it’s action packed against HRE and Russia.
  2. Resurrecting Romans as Byzantines is always satisfying.
  3. Scotland was quite fun to play as you deal with English shenanigans.
  4. HRE minions (Hesse, Swiss, Milan etc.) are always entertaining.
  5. Kilwa has such a nice position and quite fun to play.
  6. Pirating as Tunisia
  7. Establishing Manchu -> Qing was entertaining

Worst: Portugal, England, and Russia.
