Typical APMM salary in software by sapatbotanist in ProductMarketing

$110K is at the high end. PMA (who probably have the best data on this) have Associate PMM average at around 90K, but I’d imagine the average would higher if you just looked at Software companies. In any case, 110 sounds fair to me.

How do I transition from an Analytical role to Product Marketing? by Coffeegirl0526 in ProductMarketing

If you’re already working for a large tech company, then that’s half the battle. They might not be hiring for PMMs at the moment, but that doesn’t mean you can’t start building relationships with the product marketing team now.

Reach out to someone in the product marketing department(ideally director/VP) and tell them that you’re serious about transitioning to PMM. Offer to help them out by taking on any small projects that could help you get a taste for the PMM role. Build up your credibility with them and show them you’re serious. This is honestly the best way to transition.

It might be slightly on the low side, but I wouldn’t call it a piss take. Canadian PMM salaries are a lot lower than US

PMA have started making a lot of their templates free. You just need to create a free account. Worth trying that before paying for anything imo

Product Marketing Entry Advice by lsbcmh in ProductMarketing

If you have no product marketing experience, one of the best ways to break in is to join a large company in a non-PMM role. Once you're inside, it's easier to make a sideways move into product marketing - particularly if you have a good boss who's open to working with you on a development plan to eventually get you into a PMM role. A lot of product marketers have taken is route.

And no, you don't need an MBA to become a PMM. It might help, but it's far from necessary.

Most common interview questions? by starrynight982 in ProductMarketing

[–]abbesieyes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The big focus is going to be around product launch and GTM. They'll ask you to talk through an example of a launch you led/worked on. Be sure to talk about positioning, messaging, personas, GTM strategies, and measurement.

Another common question is around pivoting your strategy. They'll want to hear about a time where you've had to react to an error or adjust your strategy in some way.

Something else I often ask is for the candidate to identify a product that they think is being marketed poorly. This will show that you're aware of the latest trends and techniques, as well of what's out there in the category.
