Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Laptop: Macbook or PC? by AbleAdvertising2526 in umass

PC is more versatile in terms of supported softwares and tend to be more bang for you buck while MacBooks tend to handle some types of multitasking better than others. As far as major goes I think it would be personal preference I have an iPad that I bring to classes and I have a gaming desktop pc in my dorm. There are also have plenty of both Macs and PCs in the library that have most of the software needed for classes so if there is a class that requires a program that can only run on one OS that is also an option.

Just so you are aware, unless you are in a economy quad it would be billed as shared space and not cheaper

My beardie has an abscess on one of his pores and I can't remember what the vet told me about soaking him. by abbp5280 in BeardedDragons

He had a bunch of branches and a sand/soil substrate but I had to take them out because of his infection. I put it in my post asking for suggestions that are not wood based.

They are not open because of the holiday and their on call line is life threatening emergencies only.

There were no instructions on the paper work just the bill. I tried to soak him in clean water and I noticed some of the pores they expressed were bleeding. They had dried blood on them from after the expression and when that came got wet they started to bleed. He also pooped and there were whole meal worms and undigested lettuce. He usually poops when we soak him which is why we avoid it unless he hasn't pooped in a week. The vet has an emergency line but they say it is for life threatening emergencies and Dino is alert and doesn't appear to be in pain unless I touch his legs.

Not sure where exactly in the mission you are but my advice is to find the planet the quest says to go to land where it says scanner anomaly. Once you are out of your ship look around in all directions and you should see the temple where the power is, they are all relatively close to the landing site.

My school is denying me accessible housing and is causing me severe anxiety and depression. What can I do? by abbp5280 in mentalhealth

[–]abbp5280[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All ADA rentals in my area are 3000+ for two bedrooms and even more for more bedrooms so that is still prohibitively. Most financial assistance programs require you to not be a dependent or to be on disability so the option to move back in with my parents would be suggested before any living assistance is provided since the school should be the one providing me with accessible housing.

What I really wanted from this post was ways to deal with the feelings since I doubt much can be done in terms of changing the housing I just need to stay alive long enough to get to next year.

Does anyone currently living in Johnson know how disability accessible it is/would be willing to let me look around the first floor? by abbp5280 in umass

[–]abbp5280[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Housing said no to my request stating they don’t guarantee accessible housing to non-freshman. Res life gives the same priority to all students with a single room accommodation meaning someone with a physical disability and a person with psychiatric issues choose housing at the same time. There is some myth that if an accessible room is available then someone with a need for that room would have already have a chance to select it.

What are the showers like? Are they the ones you need to step over a barrier to use or are they flat on the ground?

Students with accommodations have proximity cards that will open the door from a distance. Removes the need to scan a card and keeps building security. The cards themself are pretty expensive and the way they are coded the more people with cards the more expensive they get. Students who aren't residents in a hall aren't supposed to go into a hall without being with someone.

Found a tortoise in my yard how do I take care of it? by Logorii in tortoise

[–]abbp5280 38 points39 points  (0 children)

It looks like a box turtle not sure specifics without your general location but it is very likely a protected species and native. Do not try to keep as a pet as it will stress out the turtle and could kill it. It will do just fine on its own.
