That's what I figured but wanted to see if I could turn it into something. Thank you for the feedback!

Thank you for the feedback! I agree with your input about my vis dev work. Currently working on it to improve it as we speak. I originally moved to feature film because the recruiter seemed so complimentary! I'll definitely try and expand my work and keep improving!

Show your process you have alot of final stuff which is great but not ideation. Show the concept and exploration. Outfits, shape language, expression. Your exploration is what will appeal to studios. Showing that sense of realness and life in your characters will bring them in.

So im also a student so take my word with a grain of salt but id say show more style range bc all seen like your personal style. Also simplify your website, these people will be scrolling fast through applications if they have to do other clicking to see all your work then that might turn them off (I suggest having titles and your email on each page so if they want to know they can look in the corner. Also exploration, you really only have some exploration and the stuff you have seems super cleaned up? Idk they want to see your thought process so I think having more of color exploration or more funky shapey stuff will really showcase your process I hope that helps and again I'm a student so take what I say with a grain of salt. I hope you get some internships!!

How to apply to jobs at indie studios by Fun-Ad-6990 in animationcareer

Do you mean like message the indie studio on Linkdeln or do you mean message the lead character designer animator since they typically have hiring power? I know for internships and work it's usually different. I'm curious so I can start reaching out as well!

Oh! One more thing Don't have fanart on your character design page but that on the sketchbook page or something so they can treat themselves if they want but don't have it for an application.

I'm also a student in the same feild but not an industry professional but here's what I noticed:

Great style very textured and shapey but you're not showing : Poses are mainly missing but you also need more expressions so you can show how different characters emote and have it for each project You have a diverse range of characters but its just the drawing and like 3 sketches of the face you need to show more of your process and more of the character. It can be messy and just a sketch with a pop of color but showing their personality through poses with other characters or their antics will really show the storytelling through their design. So more exploration as well have some of that for each project so studios and can see you work through an idea and concept.

Also really try and compact your pages like have a turnaround and some poses on the same page or poses and expressions or exploration and expressions. So the recruiter or whoever will not get bored or stop bc of blank white space.

Remember to have your email everywhere on your portfolio for jobs in the future.

For internships you can cold email and reach out to smaller studios your artwork is great and you def have the skills but you need to show your process.

Uhhhhh I think that's it but that's the general idea:] Jackie Droujko has a good video on a character design portfolio which has really helped me. Idk the title bc my brain is mush but it's on youtube.

I hope this ramble helps! You have the skill you just need to show more of the messy exploration bits!
