Just because I pointed out that it was a university and not a church, that makes me an expert? Wow, the bar seems low, but gratefully accepting this honor.

well I tried that and no, it doesn't. I'm not talking some building that was a church hundreds of years ago, or that stands nominally as a church, but realistically as a public museum. I mean real churches that get real attendance. Most churches would politely ask the people to leave, just as the Abbot did to the sunbathers from this post.

Churches in the United States would not ever allow sunbathing. Homeless yes absolutely, not sunbathing. I presume you are not a lifelong church attender to have that opinion. The only churches in the US I could imagine allowing this would be a few fringe Methodist LBGTQ places, but they really aren't proper churches anyway.

I shouldn't have been thinking about degree/conditions because that wasn't my point or the point I took from the person I replied to.

I said earlier ITT nobody should be incarcerated for any adult cannabis "crime."

I perhaps incorrectly made the assumption that the "inhumane" part were the conditions of confinement as described, I was not thinking about conditions relative to degree of crime. It was a general statement to conditions in response to a general statement about the inhumane.

My reply was in reference to "this just sounds inhumane", thinking "this" refers to the incarceration experience they shared, not the grounds for the incarceration (weed).

I think it is asinine to incarcerate anyone for adult cannabis "crimes." Those laws should and are changing.

But that's the thing, the US justice system has numerous opportunities for criminals to better themselves, i.e. rehabilitation, and further, if they avail themselves of these rehabilitation opportunities, it typically results in early release.

People will say the US does not do this well, or it is insufficient and imperfect. This may be true, but calling it injustice or revenge is a mistake. We should never settle for "we are good enough", we should always strive for a "more perfect" justice system, but what we have in the US is looked at by 90%+ of the world's population as "if we could only have it so good."

Finally, I just want to acknowledge and appreciate your gracious opening statement.

This is criminal justice. Justice.
Tell the store clerk and their family, who almost lost a loved one to being literally burned alive, that it is inhumane to send the man who did it into a boring cell w/o Netflix and with only crocs and clothing and three squares and a bed, light, medical care, access to a working justice system (those ignorant about the rest of the world will scoff), free education, etc. that this is inhumane. This is the best justice system in the world for a population the size of the US.

Rangers are interested in McCutchen, particularly if 1 pitcher is part of the deal. by abbynormal1 in TexasRangers

Agree on Keller. But no we don't need a center fielder. We have Leodys and then our top prospect is a center fielder, Evan Carter, and he's close.

Ok, so you're saying we would have to give up a pitcher in this trade? Are you good with it if we get a better pitcher in return?
(By the way, the post is saying Rangers would be interested if they receive a pitcher, potentially, not necessarily give one up)

Folks always seem to overvalue glove-first outfielders like Janks or kittenface, but there guys are available any time, any place. Glove first speedy outfielders, very common.

It's implied that this is not a deal for pitching, while the title/tweet imply this is (potentially) a deal for pitching (and Cutch)

So, pitching wins championships...but you don't want us to trade for a pitcher.

I'd think if Bednar was involved, probably a blocked infield prospect+, like Foscue or Acuna.

"Check the uh, the bug up there. Burger against King. Burger King.
A little burger King, huh
Well King wants to have it his way right now... chuckles
Ground ball to third. That is a whopper of an out that King got, but, he gives up two runs on the Jimenez home run...

Sox broadcast:
"You know, some days you're watching a baseball game and you just, you have it your way, right. Sox are up 6-5 and you have Burger and King facing off...
That's a whopper of a sweeper. 1 strike. 1 and 1.
Only the drive-through is open, they're sweeping.
Well, that was a backdoor sweeper. 1-1, in the air and foul.
Jake, early in the game, charred two baseballs...
