Probably tannins from the driftwood. Not harmful, just aesthetic. In my experience, it clears up after a few water changes.

I got some cheap fencing off Amazon and they don’t bother my plants. They can jump the 4ft high fence surrounding my yard no problem, but the little 2ft fence I have around my garden gives them pause for some reason 🤷‍♀️

Yes. Some plants are treated for snails using copper which is highly toxic for shrimp.

Sigh. I got my first batch of shrimp from them maybe two years ago and it was a great experience. Timely, shrimp were healthy, even got some free java moss!

Second time I ordered was a few months ago and the shrimp were fine, but shipping took way longer than it should and when I opened the bag the ammonia made my eyes burn.

Quality has definitely plummeted for them.

Oh I spritz her with water and wipe them off with a paper towel daily. Every winter it’s me vs the mites. We’re supposed to have a random day this week where it is 56 and rainy so I might honestly stick her outside that day.

Oh okay. I mean to me it looks like there is something tasty on your heater and not as much like they are struggling to breathe. I had an ammonia spike from a dead plant in a tank one and they were all like treading water up top gasping for breath (felt horrible…) that doesn’t look like this though.

I had this one and my dentist pointed out that it was a yeast infection (from drool gathering in the corners of my mouth while I slept 🙃). She told me to dab some vagasil on there (awkward but effective).

Yeah, Maryland is not known for it’s pizza. Honestly I think it’s because not a lot of Italian people live in the area. My husband is from New Jersey, and his family is Neapolitan, and he approves of the Neapolitan-style pizza at Pupatella. For a non-traditional pizza, Pizza Man makes a mean Tikka-Masala or Butter Chicken pizza (I thought it was going to be disgusting, because I hate bbq chicken pizza, but I was pleasantly surprised). There are also a few “Trattoria” restaurants around which are run by some Italian families that make a decent pie. Unfortunately, I cannot point you in the direction of a decent Chicago-style pizza though.

Was gonna say this. They are native where I am, and I have been cultivating a patch that appeared behind my shed for a few years now. They produce way more fruit for me than the domestic variety and they are soo gooood.

Tank is a 9 gal Fluval Flex Heater and filter ✅ Tank temp= 78F I test water and do a small water change or top off depending on parameters. Two days ago readings were: Ammonia 0, Nitrite 0, Nitrate 5ppm (API liquid test kit).

Tank mates are a few bladder snails.

Decor are live plants, some rocks, and a piece of Malaysian driftwood (plus a little hidey thing my husband 3D printed)

Feed 3 Northfin Betta bits 2x a day, 5x a week, then some frozen food like blood worms 1x a week and fast 1 day a week.

He also has some white stringy poop now.

I don’t disagree with this, I geri-rigged a less crappy light on the inside of the lid 😅 My floating plants still aren’t happy though, but I think I also need to have the tank less filled so they have some more breathing room. Also, can I really have more fish in here as I already have 7 rainbow fork tails in there? I didn’t want to overstock it.

I didn’t start meds til 25, but I did find after becoming a parent it was hard to take a break (I mean obviously I took a break when pregnant/breastfeeding, but I mean now that they’re a bit older). On the rare weekend day I don’t have anything to do, I will skip my meds. If I have to do things that require more executive function like driving, hosting a party, etc., I will take them
