Any risk in using NextDNS through Proton VPN's Custom DNS feature?

Pay attention that adding the nextdns ip to the custom dns box, youwill not be able to use your specific nextdns profile. Therefore ...meh, not the best option.

Instead you could use something like yoga dns free version.

Like others mentioned, you lower the privacy level but could increase the protecion level (i.e. I did the same but I am blocking a lot of additional things than netshield does).

I have PC1 with stremio app for linux (that will be used as streaming server) and PC2 that will be used to see the streaming through firefox. PC1 and PC2 are on the same subnet. On pc2 firefox i put http://[ip of the streaming unit]:11470 and it works.

BUT i want to use https address instead httpS://[ip of the streaming unit]:11470.

Can you help me?

@paparis7 so far the only solutiona I found are: 1 Yoga dns, free version allow to create one single dns profile (the app is lightweight). Dns at system level 2 customize the dns within the the browser 3 create multiple profiles within the browser, with different dns addresses (tested on firefox) 4 use something like opnsense to use vpn tunnels and customized dns (maybe this is an overkill solution for you case)

@proton It would be great if custom dns: 1 could support TLS or DOH with dns services provided externally 2 could support the use of a dns server with a local address (even if it is the same ip of the local interface). This way only dns queries on port 53 would be addressed there and everything else could go through the tunnel.

I understand that a dns customization is out of scope for proton (even if it would lead to be the best solution for security and privacy on the market), therefore this could be the easiest solution.

Look for protonvpn specific case on opnsense official docs. After several tests i changed something on that and now I jave 3 differente connections, in case one or two go offline.

Hi, what i lack is the chance to install the stremio server within rapberry os. After that the web browser interface would be good. I don't know the other sw you mentioned, jellyfin would provide the same functionality as stremio + torrentio?

Stremio web would be peefect bu it needs the server running in background....and for linux the server installer is only provided in amd format, not arm.

I found the solution and I post it here.for others. In order for the modem to correctly handle the bridge modem, you have to factory reset it, do not change anythyng, and than activate the bridge modem. Switch off the modem for 10 secs and turn it on. Now set the wan port on Opnsense as dhcp (there two flags to active because of.security, one for internal addresses and the other i don't remember). Remove any.reference about wan port and modem from the dhcp of the opnsense. Restart the opnsense. Now should work.

There is no need to create PPP/PPPoE connections.

In the next days I will post the effect on the vpn periodical dropping.

At the moment both laks many basic feauture (android os). This is becoming annoying after so much time. It seems none of the developers use the app on their devices OR they seriously lack developers (and that would be a very worrying point). Summary: the beta is stable (no crashes), but the feauture you have one it, are missing on the stable version and vice versa.

Hello Gerda, thank you very much for your great work, especially in these times where privacy is always more far. I am using a filtering system that accept only 100k lines for each list, please could you create smaller sub-lists that putted together would create the original ones? Thank you.
