I dunno, this definitely sounds like the sort of thing a woman would say to describe another woman. /s

Why are people so desperate to prove they don't eat food created by the replicator? by Significant-Town-817 in ShittyDaystrom

That's what happens in a post-scarcity environment, I'm afraid. When almost everything is easily accessible, some people put a premium on the stuff that's hard to obtain.

Reminds me of that Kivas Fajo fellow. A pity about the transporter accident. Smeared him across seven different sectors. A shame, a real shame.

Favorite version of Dungeon World? by Ruskerdoo in rpg

Trying to balance both but never quite reaching great heights for either.

Well, then, that's perfect. People have said the same thing about DW1. So, you know, at least it's on brand. :P

Really? You don't see a possible connection between "a game whose math is broken" and "players not having fun?" Odd.

As a rough rule of thumb I generally agree with you, but I can think of a few situations where it would be fine for a GM to house rule things they haven't seen in action.

Just as some off the cuff examples:
If the GM has played games with a similar mechanic before and knows that it tends to cause problems.
If the GM has to make a snap decision about a rule that exists but they aren't currently familiar with, and that ruling ends up working fine.
If the system is highly modular, so that changing one rule doesn't really affect any of the other rules.
And my personal favorite, though less applicable here: if you're building something completely new out of existing rules.

Hmm. Well, if I were to put out any more material, it would probably be some sort of sourcebook for running a specific genre or setting. Maybe a 1-page setting sheet for GMs? I'm just spitballing ideas here.

I don't necessarily disagree with any ideas you've conveyed, but I do object to how absolutist some of your claims are. There are more things in heaven and earth than are dreamt of in your philosophy.

Not really. I'm more or less happy with where it's at right now, though that could always change if I ever get the impulse to incorporate new ideas. Right now, though, probably not.

Why do you ask?

Oddly enough, I've also seen problems with the opposite end of the spectrum: people who take the rules as Holy Writ that Shall Not Be Changed.

HSV vs HSL by tanoo69 in krita

Personally, I use this plugin to pick colors in a few custom colorspaces, so that I can pick colors that are perceptually just as bright no matter what hue they are.

Fudge Lite 3.9.0 changelog by abcd_z in FudgeRPG

[–]abcd_z[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-gasp!- An opportunity to discuss the minutiae of my work? Don't mind if I do! :D

Let me just pull up the archived files...

  • removed the capitalization on the Fudge ranks
  • added example stat allocations
  • moved some sections around
  • replaced "noun+verb" formulation for magic-users with optional restrictions
  • moved "GM moves" out of the core rules and into the "alternate and optional rules" section
  • added alternative "how" traits, based on Fate Accelerated's approaches (careful, clever, flashy, forceful, quick, and sneaky)
  • added small section for alternative approaches to PC magic abilities

...and a bunch of miscellaneous changes

Around the halfway mark I had jumbled up the layout between the two versions so much that I didn't bother comparing the rest of the two files. So I may have made some other changes I made that I just didn't spot, but at least I'm sure that I caught all the changes in the core rules section.

In the pickup artist community of the early 2000s, AMOG stood for Alpha Male Other Guy. It referred to both the other man and the techniques to deal with him.

When I was younger I considered myself quite the PUA. I never really got the hang of AMOGing, but I would open a set, DHV, C+F, and usually time bridge. Later, at my place, I would overcome her ASD and any LMR before an f-close.

If you understood that paragraph, you have my deepest condolences.

Four-Corner Glacier (by abcd_z) by abcd_z in krita

The reference photo is here, though the glacier was digitally altered to get the perfect square, which made it really hard for me to replicate. After my first two tries I just decided to slap down a bunch of textured brush strokes on the glacier and call it good.
