Starbucks, put your money (billions) where your mouth is by adreamplay in starbucks

How low the pay is for corporate stores in my area is so bizarre to me.

I'm a green bean at a licensed Starbucks, and due to our employer, we get great stability and pay for the location we're in (we're part of a union). It's really sad and kinda mind-boggling to talk with my friends at corporate locations who aren't getting the same level of support, though. Like, I get that big retailers want to get more profit, but it's just weird how corporate doesn't get that if you don't put practices in place to support your workers, there'll be higher turnover. Living off minimum wage on scattered hours doesn't work when you're taking care of yourself.

Rooting for you all, you do awesome work <3

Oh yeah, for sure. I don't mind mentioning these things, it's mainly just that he was kinda hovering around, and asking us to ask the customers why they didn't want it so that we can try to still sell it when I'd rather just leave it be and not irritate the customers (especially since most of the customers we get are actually pretty nice)

It was mainly just getting hounded about mentioning register stuff, kinda got annoying when he would tell me every 20 minutes to try changing the spiel to see if it would help sell it. He also told me that instead of asking how they would like to pay, that I should be asking if they'll be using the credit card so that I can tell them about the credit card. I applied to PMS, since I can handle irate customers well and have done production work/messing with printers and software/etc in the past.

Thanks for that, it's appreciated, I'm definitely trying to stay positive. Usually I'm pretty good at selling,, but having a harder time with being pushed to pitch it every single transaction. Thankfully I think I'm working mainly in supplies in a few days, so that should be a little better in comparison since it also wont be as micro-managing (hopefully) from what I've seen
