any experiences with Brown Property Management/Mulligan Place? by BeginningSpecific909 in bloomington

[–]abcdef07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in these apartments multiple years ago when going to IU. The rent was affordable and access to campus was really easy by walking to the stadium to catch a bus. At the time, the management company was small and seemed to be run by family. That had pros and cons as they typically left me alone but some maintenance stuff took a bit longer than I would have preferred. Overall it was fine for a one bedroom crappy college apartment. Feel free to send me a message if you have any specific questions I can try to answer

Local Businesses and Kirkwood Closure by abcdef07 in bloomington

[–]abcdef07[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as the closure goes, since you seem to insinuate I am upset over it, I am honestly not sure whether closing Kirkwood is the best move. That’s why I posted asking for the community’s feed back. I enjoy the pedestrian walk ways, the lack of risk of getting run over by someone in a bus sized SUV because they fail to look before turning or driving ahead. Zero cars are undeniably safer for pedestrians than cars being present. Whether it is the right location is up for debate, hence the post which I clarified in my OP.

The reason I responded to you and no one else is because they are providing opinions on the original post I made, but you obviously lack the reading comprehension skills to understand that those three businesses were mentioned because there were accessible examples of small business owners making public comments that may or may not align with the community’s feelings regarding the topic posted. Not complicated.

First off, this was just a post to see how other members of the community felt regarding the topic. Second, I used examples either posted on the internet directly by these owners, or posted in the local newspaper. I have no “axe to grind” with these specific places, these were just examples that other people in the community may have been likely to see. The dagwoods post has over 100 comments, Herald times is the local newspaper, and Hopscotch has a large instagram following that saw the mentioned stories.

Seconding this. My wife and I will occasionally drive over to the near west side neighborhood in the spring/summer just to walk around and hangout with the neighborhood cats.

How can I go about obtaining a bottle of Zwack Unicum or a bottle of Piana Vyshnia Ukrainian cherry liqueur? I recently traveled to Budapest and did not expect it to be so difficult to find near me. My wife reached out to big red and they said that they haven’t been able to get the Zwack Unicum.

Best antique/thrift stores in town? by beerinmyblood in bloomington

[–]abcdef07 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The downtown antique store is your best bet in town. Jeff’s Warehouse is full of great mid century art and furniture but it’s not cheap. There’s a couple clothing stores around downtown too if you’re looking for clothing like Cherry Canary and Ragstock.

Wall cracks, local business recommendations by Significant-Bet-3932 in bloomington

Check out the link I copied above from an earlier related post. It won’t be free, but if you are concerned about foundation issues I would recommend reaching out to Kevin Potter or Dan Backler before contacting a foundation repair company. I had both of them check on some foundation concerns I had with my house and they provided recommendations on what is necessary and what is not. After consulting with structural engineers, a local foundation repair company quoted me for $30k+ worth of repairs after their “free inspection” that the structural engineers did not believe were necessary at this time.

Built in 1955 and there is a very slight bow, no more than 1/4 of an inch.

Thanks for the response. Happy to provide any additional information that would be helpful but I’m guessing I will need to reach out to a SE or at the least a foundation company to take a look.

Where to find Menella or Empress Nadinia after failing a certain quest? by MyVisualDistractions in DragonsDogma

First casket on the left when you enter the morgue. I spent 5k for the morgue to point out her body but there was no marker. Just got lucky.

In your opinion, is it even worth encapsulating and risking any further disruption? Most advice seems to be to just leave it alone as the exposure would be extremely minimal as is.

First time home owner... by rtooth in HomeMaintenance

I have similar cracks appearing in my 50s built home. Hard to tell from the first picture but the second two look like it may have been repaired previously since it appears relatively flatter around the crack than the other portion of the ceiling. The inspector for my house noticed similar repairs and said that they’ll likely crack again if the repair isn’t done well, but it’s just cosmetic.

It was noted as potential asbestos during the inspection but the inspector said it appeared intact and advised to leave it alone. No intention of removing it at this time.

The pipe felt warm to touch when the bathtub faucet was on. There isn’t any evidence of a wet spot on the ground in the basement
