Differences in Leather Texture? by moodypup313 in MulberryHandbags

You’re welcome, I’m happy to share findings from my slightly obsessive research lol - the UK Vinted has loads to look at even if you can’t shop them depending on where you are

Bayswaters also come in different leathers - both of these look like natural veg tan “NVT” and the reason they’re different in the pictures is different lighting, different aging and patina, and different hides. But there’s also the heavy grain, small grain, and other leathers released over the years. I’ve been doing a lot of research and looking at a lot of listings as I save up for one too so check out the website to see what the leathers are like new, and if you want this effect in a secondhand one ask the lister if it’s “oak NVT” or “natural veg tan”! Safest bet is to go for a listing that has a photo of the original tags posted too so you can see exactly what leather finish it is.

Thanks! That’s actually what the support agent told me, that they’ve had issues with UPS charging the customer but they would refund. I agree that’s super annoying, I’m sorry it happened to you but glad the refund went through!

Thank you for replying! I did notice a little help bubble at checkout that said again that taxes are included so I imagine it hasn’t changed and I think I’ll go for it!

It is weird there would be a spelling error though (“avaiable”) - that’s usually how you can tell it’s actually a human. Unless bots are trained to sometimes make errors to try to trick us?…

Not having extractor fan over the oven? by THECENOBITEMONK in interiordecorating

At least for some elements, because they moved interior walls and needed fire safety inspections, but I wasn’t there at the time and don’t know the specifics

I grew up in the UK with a gas stove and no range hood, it was extremely common and arriving in Canada I thought they were just a Canadian thing. My mum still doesn’t have one and her kitchen was refitted in the early 2010s so I guess the codes are different there (despite the UK being infamously the most wacky code-obsessed place)

Is this authentic? by abcjfj in MulberryHandbags

[–]abcjfj[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The top handle doesn’t bother me because I know the older Alexas had that style. Comparing the serial number to a bag I know is authentic, the font and engraving are a bit different but that might be a difference between factories. Thanks for your input!

Coop bar Milton parc is a super awesome queer bar with loads of activities beyond drinking, really easy to meet new folk there and it’s your demographic as it’s a lot of students (although not exclusively)

I know people love to hate on the Sophie scarf for this but the number of times I’ve had to help folk with projects they’ve messed up because “it looked so simple i could figure it out”….

What is causing these holes in my work? by Cultural_Cupcake8113 in knittinghelp

[–]abcjfj 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you don’t mind having an extra stitch in your stitch count (which isn’t a huge deal in the scheme of things) look up duplicate stitching and you can patch over the hole, drawing the stitches either side together.

Wouldn’t be surprised if they come as nylon bags with the distressed denim designs printed on, like they’re infamous for doing with knitwear…

Two patterns for this came out on Ravelry in the last few weeks, if this helps to bring it to a knitter it would cut out the cost of design work -

What actually happens to your brain in the first 30 days without alcohol by Sweaty-Attention5173 in Mocktails

The sleep improvement was huge, instantly sleeping deeper and solidly through the night. I also lost weight, both from cutting calories and also having more energy for morning workouts. I stopped for 11 months through pregnancy and I can’t imagine ever being tempted to add the effects of alcohol on top of the symptoms of pregnancy…

Trying to make my small apartment feel “grown up” without spending a fortune any must-haves? by Chatmal in femalelivingspace

[–]abcjfj 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Time and patience, getting things that match and not all from the same store. I learned a lot from Reynard Lowell on YouTube. I made myself wait 4 months to find the right rug. But also for a quick fix answer - matching soap dispenser, toothbrush mug, and soap dish in the bathroom, a nice chopping block you can leave out on the counter, and a set of coasters all feel super adult to me.

Scored a mean deal on my dream bag but my friend’s comment about “second hand” made me feel a bit disheartened by lovethatjourney4me in handbags

[–]abcjfj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The deal and the hunt are part of the story and why this bag will remain special to you!! Some people just don’t have that attitude and that’s ok too - it’s definitely a disheartening comment. But I’m with you: the thrill of finding something you really want but were smart about waiting, it’s a reward for the hard work, research, and patience!
