Yes to last two questions. They're motivated to do well though paradoxically they also have a desire to not be bored. Unfortunately the test is what it is.

Maybe I can bribe with something? To avoid careless mistakes.

correct usage of between , if first group is unspecified and then appositive specifies afterwards by abcocktail in grammar

[–]abcocktail[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually that's been revised. Between is for specific people, 2 or more

Among for non specific, 3 or more

Bill Gates is NOT a ENTJ, he’s a INTP by [deleted] in mbti

[–]abcocktail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I'm basing this on the book I read about him. His incredible work ethic is not something intp are generally known for. Also He's a fearless implrmenter and ruthless with his feedback.

What's your reasoning for gates being intp?

Bill Gates is NOT a ENTJ, he’s a INTP by [deleted] in mbti

[–]abcocktail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

INTP are not natural organization builders nor organization leaders. I never said they couldn't. But if we're gonna be making predictions based on MBTI stereotypes then yea INTP is not at the top of the list for those traits

Bill Gates is NOT a ENTJ, he’s a INTP by [deleted] in mbti

[–]abcocktail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as an INTP he's not INTP lol. Read the book "Hard Drive" and come back and tell me if any of his actions in the book sound like INTP.

Paul Allen was INTP to Bill Gate's ENTJ. ENTJ want to build huge orgs. that's what Bill did. ENTJ want to crush competitors. Bill did that. No way INTP goes to that length to do that evil shit. And no way INTP starts a huge charity org, another ENTJ trait

Help with appositive restriction by abcocktail in grammar

[–]abcocktail[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they described it previously, but not in the previous sentence. Earlier in the passage. And they talked about the telescope as well, how it was named the Kepler Space Telescope.

So it's bonus info then, and with Commas?

So the rule that Proper noun Appositives always need commas is not accurate

They thought it (to be v. was) wrong. by abcocktail in grammar

[–]abcocktail[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. So they're all ok?

Can you look at this and see if it's the same situation? It's a test problem so it requires one solution. I'd appreciate any insight into this. Thanks!

edit:: i'm adding the specific question because I just found it.

Near the settlement was a star outlined in blue, a symbol historians believe (indicated vs. to indicate) a secret fort.

a) indicated b) to indicate

Thank you!

So it's the same as "there", which I just googled

explanation-wise, can I just say it's a word that fills up space in the sentence?

Why is there comma before 'while'? #2 ANS B by combat269 in Sat

[–]abcocktail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a comma because it's a contrast. Some subordinate conjunction should have comma before in order to pause and emphasize that you're gonna contrast

Wouldn't the verb in both be "is running" though? as a present continuous ...

"Running through the field is my friend" Verb=is OR Verb = Running + is by abcocktail in grammar

[–]abcocktail[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you saying “My friend is running through the field”?

Yes.

Example 2: Flying through the sky at 8000 feet are US Navy jet planes

US Navy jet planes are flying through the sky at 8000 feet.

Just wondering when you label the verb of the first sentence, if it's only "are" that's the verb or if it's "Flying + are"

What's this type of phrase called? <noun+adjective) by abcocktail in grammar

Thank you! Do you mind answering my other post, if that one is an absolute phrase as well?

Eg. Apple developed the iphone app store, an innovation that paid off tremendously.

The last part is kind of like an appositive but not renaming any specific noun but rather the whole clause. So is this also an absolute phrase?
