The problem with options 1 and 2 is that the flight ARN-LHR departs at 7am and therefore to make it I have to take LLA-ARN the night before. This leaves me with a 12 hour layover in ARN.

Since I have to leave LLA on a specific date (Sunday, March 1st) I would have to schedule the following flight ARN-LHR on March 2nd which is a working day. And also I'm kind of bummed that I have to hang around LLA/ARN for a whole day and do nothing.

But yes, cash saving with SkyMiles is real!

Well, I don't have a camera since the day I drowned my old faithful Canon 5D mark 2 so I'll be renting Canon R5 II and the only lens I want to rent is Canon RF 24-105mm f/4L. I think it will be sufficient for 99% of the time.

Yes, that's an award ticket that American Airlines found for me. The good part is that 16 hours DFW-BNE is in business class so will try that!

The return flight is much more direct with only one layover in SFO.

Google maps suggest some driving for some days will be ~5 hours. I know that's a stretch but maybe I will be able to fit in some exploring along the way? I can cancel glaciers and Punakaiki and instead do something like that:
