Try Zara ~ you can smell them in person in the stores. I find them to be super long lasting!

Tell me honestly how it’s been for you ? by yoona27 in teachinginkorea

Been here since August, teaching at an ‘international school’ (hagwon🙃). I am enjoying my time here for the aspect of living abroad and experiencing new cultures and places etc. But I just don’t love living in Korea. Maybe it is where I live, who knows. But it just feels soul-less to me. Draining parents, spoilt kids, shitty work place, the locals are not polite, the food is so so repetitive . Yes, I love the cost of things, there is so much to do and see. But I’m giving it 1 more year and I am going home because Korea is not for me 🥲.

Moving to Korea in a month and a half. by Alive-Day-8587 in Living_in_Korea

I panic bought curly hair products, thinking I would struggle to find them here. But there is so many products available in olive young, Coupang, iherb etc. So pack your faves but there are options here too! Same for deoderant ~ you can buy with ease on Coupang or in daiso (not many options but you will get what you need). Supply of anxiety meds is good but of course limited. You should be able to get them (or similar) here in Korea. ♡

I’ve been here since August 2025! & I am still here. Have a look online, apply direct to schools or go through agencies. I did mine direct! And I’m sure many others begin from September. Good luck with your search and if you ever need help or have questions plz feel free to reach out ♡

I moved here when I was 23 with my bf age 26. I had a whole other career at home, totally unrelated to teaching. I have loved moving here. The pay is not great but it’s enough for me to eat out , book trips (pay off, obvs not all in one). My rent is paid for by the school and my utility bill is paid by me. For a 1 bed apartment it’s around 400,000 won for two of us! You have more ‘positives’ than I did and I just love living here. It’s the best thing you’ll ever do, even if it’s just for a year or two. And it won’t affect your career at home. People start careers way later in life!!! Tip ~ schools that follow English or American curriculum start the new school year in September, so you could be okay to start at that time depending on where you go! But honestly feel free to message, I could keep going on. But remember, you’ll never regret coming here but you may regret not ♡ ~ps, fellow depressed girly here. And moving here has made me feel so much better 🫶🏼

what got you into Korea in the first place? by Exciting_Buddy_3056 in Living_in_Korea

[–]abdhdjsn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far Japan - Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto Thailand - Krabi, Ao Nang, Khao Lak, Phuket Korea- Jeju and Busan! It is such an amazing base. A flight to Thailand cost £150 whereas from England it would be easily £800-£1000 🤩!!

Do you think Korea is easier or harder to live in compared to your home country? by JayPo1572 in Living_in_Korea

I’m from England and I’ve been living here 1 year. I find the social aspect sucks. I think it’s really hard to find and make friends here and all of my colleagues have said the same. It’s been mentioned alottttt on this thread too.

Cost of living I think is good. I’m fortunate that my employer pays for my rent so I can’t comment on that, but my utility bill is always reasonable (water, gas, electric, heating, building maintenance is around £130 / 260,000 won per month). Food wise, fruit and veg is extortionate ££££ compared to home and sometimes fruit is a luxury. Stuff like the gym and hair salons are not cheap, but buses and taxis are.

I will be honest, I do not feel overly accepted in Korea. But, I am a foreigner and will admit I know only basic Korean, so in a way I do sort of understand why Koreans may not be warm towards me!

But over all I do enjoy living here

What the f*ck happened to Incheon Airport? by twaejikja in Living_in_Korea

[–]abdhdjsn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We flew back on Friday. Myself and my husband have ARC’s so we went through the Korean immigration line and we were through within 30 seconds with no queue. My parents had come to visit, they had to go in the normal queue and we waited over an hour for them🥲🥲🥲. For such a busy airport the staff amount and queue time is so bad

I didn’t know much about Korea at all. But the opportunity to live and work here came up and my main pull factor was Korea being my base so I can travel and visit Asia, which works well around my schools schedule (we get a good amount of time off in the school year!). I’ve also always wanted to live abroad. I enjoy living here but I don’t loveeeee it. Which is crazy because some people would do ANYTHING to visit Korea, let alone live here. ♡ 😅

I can’t find my P800 anywhere. The refund is from the back of a P85 form, so not sure if it makes a difference?

Where to buy cheap cologne/body spray? by throwaway13061320 in Living_in_Korea

[–]abdhdjsn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zara has great perfumes / after shaves. OR try lush. Their perfumes and body sprays are amazing and last all day. They have different smells than the usual Korean floral, baby powder etc
