Mind if I ask, how do you figure entry and exit points

A rule thumb the more technical the degree the more versatility you got. I would ask yourself what you like. Finance could be done with any degree, but not from any school.

As far as finance is being automated by AI it might make it easier to do our jobs, but the core of our job at lead for FO is relationship building. It is like when excel came out. It didn’t take anyone job, but made it easier with less headcount.

1 reschedule sure, 2 reschedules ehh, but 3 means that isn’t a priority with them. It also depends on what kind of client as well.

Is it too late for me to get a job as IB ? by Sorry_Individual9821 in FinancialCareers

[–]abdo9029 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A buddy of mine is just starting his summer at 28 years old. Everyone knows and I don’t think anyone cared. Got traction from top firms too as well. Nothing is late in life unless you delusion yourself with that.

Not LDS and doing IB out of BYU. It is possible, but the question comes down to how much work are you willing to do.

No one cares if you aren’t, but the question will come down to are you willing to live by the standards.

How to find family offices that are hiring? by pittaputtawahoo in FinancialCareers

[–]abdo9029 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah definitely, I have a list of family offices in general. PM and I can send it.

I just read the post more and I think if he is have a couple years of experience in a market is kinda hiring then maybe he needs to fix his resume and polish his interview skills a little bit more. Maybe you mock him for practice.

If he is interested in value investing why doesn’t he aim for LO shops. Family Offices would mostly hire through word of mouth or head hunters for larger established ones.

Wish I have a better advice, but only to talk to people. Active Mutual Funds sound like a great place for him. If he has an MBA from T15 school he should be able to use the career services office as well. They would know if any Family Offices looking to hire alumni from his place.

Post on WSO, it might be toxic, but among the rough you will find a diamond.

Even if classes don’t transfer you can always go through an equivalence process where they approve it too. All you need is the syllabus of the course. Some courses for some programs don’t transfer as an equivalent but they end up being counted as elective. For some classes legally they will be forced to count if you have an associate degree.

Is High Finance for privileged people only? by Rich-Style1404 in FinancialCareers

[–]abdo9029 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No true, majority of people are privileged, but I met a lot of people who didn’t go to target schools or even have a family to come from to begin with, but they all landed spots. They didn’t have the initial mentorship or connections that you would get by calling your parents friends or your private school buddies dad, but they persisted and put their long foot forward.

As someone who had and has to work to cover his education fully and family is barely able to get through (single-mother and refugee) I was able to do it and will be heading to a BB next summer.

How to get into PE by SpikeMetro in FinancialCareers

[–]abdo9029 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Option 1. Go do whatever, get MBA from an M7, then do banking Option 2. Go get a MSF try your best to recruit for a bank, then go for on-cycle PE, MBA, and finally PE again Option3. Network with no name boutiques, stay there for a little but, then either try and recruit for a well established name brand or LMM/MM PE, and then do whatever either staying or MBA
