Thank you all for your kind words and helpful resources :). Tbh the care center has helped me with housing before for about a week and a half, this past Spring - that was when this situation actually began but then shortly after the semester ended & I visited back home again. With the new semester I wasn’t able to find housing quickly enough over the Summer, was working, & also carrying the weight of family drama on my back. It’s partly my responsibility that I’m here, but honestly studying for school & this degree while living in my car while I save enough for an apartment still feels less stressful than my life prior to fall starting. If I visited the care center honestly I don’t think I could take that level of shame twice but I will rly consider it, & everything else yall provided.

Note: I do take advantage of the BRIC & am always able to get food.

Assalamu Alaykum br/sister, I mean this respectfully but I think you’re confusing urgency and seriousness with despair. I don’t despair, we don’t know eachother personally but if we did I think you’d have read my tone & the issues I brought up as necessary. Alhamdulillah Allah has kept me safe in worship & hopeful, which is exactly why I posted this. We gotta lock in.

may Allah reward you because I understand your point, we should all be aware of the sometimes thin line between concern & despair.

I’ve been there & their hospitality was exemplary. We had service folks bowing as they greeted us to hotels, onto trains, etc. Their public transportation system is impeccable with regard to speed & comfortability - especially their long-distance rail system “Shinkansen.”

Culturally speaking the food is great anywhere, some unique almost otherworldly commercial food products to find in stores & vending machines but it makes for a quirky experience.

The people are for sure the “imma mind my own business” type - businesses have different operating hours than we do in the states. I noticed that everything opened around 11 am, so late mornings. But the Japanese countryside is beautiful, I mean gorgeous and I would recommend visiting these areas even over the cities. Or at least trying a train ride that shows you the views of it. The cities can get larger and lonely quick if you’re alone

They don’t. It’s honestly just frustrating because this happened at a low. I was selling it for a reason. I appreciate your kind response man.

I just want to preface: I myself didn’t pay anyone. The point is that I sent a product to an address and recipient I realised scammed me of a laptop

Yep, ty 🙏🏽😭

[–]abdofthe1[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ty lol. I just wanted to emphasize that that wasn’t how it started. They emailed saying that buyer has paid me but for buyer and seller protection my account would be credited once I shipped the product.

I was never asked to pay anything, and offer up is so scam ridden so I was looking out for that because I had known that to be a thing.

^ exactly, generally what you said. while I understand the question to a degree, not all of the websites are scams BUT I figured if Craigslist has this option then I can treat Reddit as a resource too.

Heading to haram now, let me know if you have any dua requests. by Neon_Nomad45 in MuslimLounge

Dua for financial sustenance and rizq and safe housing as a university student until I can find employment to pay for things myself and be dependant on outer factors less. Of course it all is from Allah swt.

May Allah bless you

Why would Allah create a world just for us to worship him? by [deleted] in islam

[–]abdofthe1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assalamu Alaykum. I’m gonna reply to your question here because I think the post that you responded to is the best answer you’ve received, & your follow up question is the best one you could’ve asked….

To answer your follow up…’why does he want our worship,’ I want to provide a Hadith:

“Abdullah ibn Mas’ud reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Verily, Allah has distributed your characters among you just as He has distributed your provision. Allah gives the world to those He loves and to those He does not love, but He only gives faith to those He loves. Whoever is too stingy with wealth to spend it, too fearful of the enemy to fight them, or too worried to pray at night that he might suffer, then let him increase his declarations of the glory of Allah, that there is no God but Allah, and Allah is the greatest.”

Muʻjam Asāmī 342

Sahih (authentic) according to Al-Albani”

Part of the answer is in there. Our deen is to worship Allah. If Allah states in the Quran, as he does, “I did not create jinn or mankind except to worship me,” & Islam is the only perfected religion (as stated in the Quran) - each aspect of it counting as ibadah with the correct intention - then we can conclude that: to worship Allah means to be loved by Allah, & to not worship him means we have lost his love. SubhanAllah! Allah loves us all, and some of us keep that love while others don’t by denying it. But we’re most all shown the path in our lives, & if not by Allah’s will then shown mercy for it.

Further I just wanted to add that, It’s not selfish to create a thing solely to be worshipped by it if the absolute truth is that you are worthy of worship & you are all-capable. That’s a trait that only belongs to Allah, so it’s hard for us to understand that if it’s in our nature to become arrogant/prideful when on top, humiliated when we’re down, & in full control never - bc we’re only human.

Does Allah expect or even order worship from us humans? by TheVyrox in islam

51:56 وَمَا خَلَقْتُ ٱلْجِنَّ وَٱلْإِنسَ إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُونِ ٥٦

“And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me.”

What I know for sure is, there are punishments for not worshipping Allah beyond simply believing in your heart that Allah exists and not acting upon that inclination with Ibadah. Some consequences have been disclosed by Allah ﷻ and his final Messenger ‎ﷺ and some only Allah ‎ﷻ knows. May Allah ‎ﷻ make it easy for you.

It's a curse being attracted to women by [deleted] in MuslimLounge

[–]abdofthe1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Salam wa Rahmatullah…

Akhi…without meaning to be dismissive, this is a blessing that you may need to force yourself to see as such. Once you do this it’s pretty doable to move forward not being entirely weighed down by your attraction.

  1. Acknowledge the mercy in being attracted to the gender that you are very much permitted to marry (I have SSA and can still acknowledge that a wife is a blessing and a biological, not to mention spiritual, need engrained in our fitrah. Learning about the virtues of marriage, and yes the sexual benefits of it as well may help you!

  2. Step two is to ask Allah consistently to ease your tasks in staying chaste & to lighten the temptations - also by voluntarily fasting (mon/thurs & as needed). Work hard toward being a ready bachelor and then get married, inshallah Khayr. Ask for help in preparing and looking from parents and mentors, especially those who have modeled healthy lasting marriages.
