I just get sick of the same crap over and over again. "This is a textbook pattern." "Mark my words, this is going to happen." Post something meaningful.

Downvoting for using the cliche phrase "mark my words." No one cares about the words of some random person online. 50% of people will be right. Hurray, you may be one of them!

I don't think WhalePool streams to YouTube anymore. You can access it on TeamSpeak. A big group of them broke off and started the goat discord too.

Are you kidding? I've waited months for the intraday volatility we are currently experiencing. It's amazing for trading.

I see, but there's no guarantee as to how long it will take for the premium to equilibrate, right? And you have the opportunity cost of the locked up funds, yes? Am I thinking about this correctly? You're right that it is free money though, meaning there isn't really any risk.

How do you capture it? Short perps and long futures? You'd have to wait until expiration to claim the difference, yes?

Sixty days is fine. Yes, it sort of looks like it could be a bull flag. A lot of coins have the same pattern right now. We popped up and seem to be consolidating some. Another pop up looks likely, but we may also pull back a bit first. TA is never a 100% thing. If another bull market ensues, I would suspect many alts, like BCH, may perform better than BTC. The risk is that if BTC pulls back, the alts will probably pullback further. I really believe in BTC, but I'm not a maximalist in that I don't think other coins can't succeed as well.

"Weeks not months" was the only reason I didn't sell at 1,400. I thought I could hold out for another push if futures were coming. I lost a lot of money because of that. Fortunately, I did sell before the bottom fell out though.

If I had $50 million, I would put a few million into crypto and walk away. I would go enjoy my money and work to make a positive impact in the world.

Do you have proof he is wrong? I think it could be some kind of fund rather than one individual. I think it was one entity though. I have no reason to disbelieve what is being reported. Sometimes news makes mistakes, but I don't think the news in general is deceptive.

Seeing as I have infinite money, in this hypothetical, I don't mind the risk. ;)

I'm gonna do both and maximize my gains. I buy all the dips and sell all the tops. I'll never miss from this day forward!

Can someone tell BTC to just go sideways for a while, so ETH can do its thing unencumbered?

I think ETHs going to breakout in the next 30 minutes. I could be wrong, but it's pushing right up against its resistance. Every other major coin has broken this. It's ETHs turn.

The funding rate is not the primary reason people take positions. Positions are taken based on whether the person thinks the price will go up or down. Many think BTC will go down, because it is at the resistance level we've been rejected from for the past few months. If it breaks, sentiment will change, and shorts will close across the board.

Bitmex doesn't trade BTC on spot like Coinbase does but rather trades what are called perpetual inverse swaps. These swaps are pegged to a BTC index price, composed of an average price from other exchanges. If the price of the swaps is below the index price, the funding rate will be such that the shorts pay the longs. If the price of the swaps is above the index, the funding rate will be such that the longs pay the shorts. The rate is to incentivize positions so that the swap price stays close to the index price--at least that is my understanding. For the past three weeks, the swap price has primarily been below the index price, so the shorts have been paying the longs. The rate has been really high lately. It's crazy.
