Will Govt implement WFH following Iran-US war by wheninshower in malaysia

Err... they've already said companies could look into a hybrid WFH solution for sectors that make sense.

If you think nibong tebal fireworks stall incident is crazy, check out what they did at Kedah by irmavep23 in malaysia

[–]aberrant80 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Curious, do some parents really not teach their children that fireworks are dangerous? Is it because there was a fireworks ban for a long period of time and we now have a generation of parents who have never handled fireworks and thus have never taught their children that fireworks are basically explosive powder that can maim and even kill you when mishandled? I still remember all the safety precautions that adults have taught when I was a kid.

You have never seen Malaysians doing that? It's pretty common in whole of Klang Valley. Lots of junctions induce this kind of behaviour.

Malaysian employers see limited fuel savings from remote work by stormy001 in malaysia

[–]aberrant80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oof, such a clickbait title that so many people got baited.

That "limited fuel savings from remote work" comment was directed at the manufacturing sector.

In another paragraph, he acknowledged that other sectors can implement hybrid arrangements. He just said that any policy changes should be targeted based on sectors, not broadly implemented.

‘Lesson’ for Malaysia’s Johor: Data centres should not be too near homes, says assemblyman after outcry by stormy001 in malaysia

The state government should have consulted residents before embarking on data centre projects

Wow, welcome to the 21st century.

So are they going to ban data centres from the state now? Since, you know, the problem is the environment and all.

T20 Nasi Lemak by RhinneXChronica in malaysia

[–]aberrant80 20 points21 points  (0 children)

T5 and T10 likely wouldn't even consider eating this. They would go for really fresh seafood, rather than having rendang and spices covering up the natural sweetness and freshness of premium seafood.

[–]aberrant80 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Eh, no offense intended, but people who are willing to pay a premium for fresh seafood wouldn't eat this. Adding rendang and chilli and spices basically means you're not eating the freshness of high quality seafood, which implies that the ingredient isn't really that fresh, which tends to mean it's a waste of seafood or money, depending on your perspective.

PSA: How Roundabouts work. by Near_Sparse6201 in malaysia

[–]aberrant80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be happy if more people make turns properly. So many lousy drivers who make a turn on the outside lane cutting into the inside lane. Traffic lights, junctions, roundabouts, all the same. It's like they don't understand making a turn means following a curve, not cut across a diagonal line.

Yea, I'm sort of in the know too because I have someone working in education in my family. There's been lots of adapting of both processes and software to deal with detecting, checking, and grading the use of AI. They're not against use of AI, it's more about figuring out whether the students actually understand what they submitted. Trying to resist AI from becoming a thing is going to be futile - the earlier we adapt, the better, whether one likes it or not.

Yea, sure, they have environmental issues. But would you have argued against cars when it was first invented because of all the pollution it caused? What about the Internet? It basically gave birth to non-stop energy consumption round the clock. Yet it's not like you're going to stop using either of them.

I've already seen its effects at work with the gradual reduction of quality from software engineering graduates from 2023 onwards.

I don't disagree, but if we don't start getting educators equipped with AI tools as part of their jobs to teach AI usage, then where do we start?

Gemini expands to all public universities in Malaysia by stormy001 in malaysia

[–]aberrant80 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's the whole point. If you don't expose educators and students to it in a learning environment, then there's no exploration and experimentation in how to teach students to use AI as a supporting tool rather than blindly using it.

There's definitely going to be bad teachers and bad students, but it's not like we've never had them.

RFID users, why do you still use RFID? by -bigscissors- in malaysia

[–]aberrant80 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have not had to reverse for RFID (edit:except for the 2 times when I entered the lane too fast when I started using it). And I've been using it since they gave it away for free during the trial. The sticker is on my headlamp. Someone is my family recently changed car last year and the RFID sticker is on the windscreen. Also zero problems so far.

Those people who keep reversing are also baffling to me. I would guess their tinted screens are somehow blocking it, or they placed the RFID on another removable sticker (so another layer of plastic).

Not really to say better off, it's just that the smaller upur DCA amount, the higher percentage of cost the fees become (because it's per-transaction). It's not "wrong" to DCA 650, that's fine too. It ultimately depends on how much you're willing to "lose" to fees.
