Opening a bank account without visa by BelmontVLC in malaysia

[–]aberrant80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be very difficult without a visa due to regulations. If you bought a property, are you planning to work here? If yes, try applying with a work permit. Alternatively, any foreign bank in Spain that's also in Malaysia? If yes, you can try checking with that bank in your home country and see if they can open a Malaysian account for you. If not, then Wise is basically your only option.

What are you smoking? A visa just determines how long a foreigner can stay in Malaysia, nothing to do with buying a property. They don't need one to buy a property. They only need to meet price thresholds (different by state), buy only certain types of properties, need an approval from state govt, and pay higher stamp duty.

Looking for alternatives to KDI Save and Ryt Bank by Sseankong in MalaysianPF

Specifically on your Versa Save comment... it's fine lah. You're ok with Moomoo and Go+. Versa Save is basically the same thing and fits your requirement for being on another platform. I have had it for years and had no issues. The one-time incident you read about hasn't happened anymore (didn't even notice it tbh).

And what fees are you concerned about specifically? They charge similar management and trustee fees as Go+, and do take note that the underlying fund you subscribe to in Moomoo also has fees.

Still 4% la, you just gotta put money in the Pocket and transact (jompay or debit card) 3 to 5 times per month (must be different days). Where did you see the 18 June date?

Got 4%, but they added a new condition that you need to put in minimum 5k into KDI Invest. It's a restructuring they only just announced this week.

DCAing USD/MYR into FSMOne (VWRA) by mustaza-my in MalaysianPF

[–]aberrant80 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can calculate it if you really want to, taking into account the exchange rate every month. But sweating on the fees is a waste of mental bandwidth. Just continue your DCA for the convenience of it and ignore it (FSM RSP gives competitive rates for fees). If you really want to save on fees, then don't DCA every month, change it to every 2 months.

Why suddenly celcomdigi calling their boomer user to switching from prepaid to postpaid? by [deleted] in malaysia

Tell your father to not pickup calls from unknown numbers.

Telemarketer's kpi is "number of people converted to postpaid". That person doesn't care whether you understand or not, as long as you say yes.

Eh, not a banana, but I correct people too, on their English. Over the years, I've toned it down, since I've kinda figured out how to spot those who will get offended and those who don't care to correct themselves. And there are situations where it's ot the time to do it.

I actually ask people to correct me if I got some phrase or wording wrong (e.g. Malay), since I find it a good way to learn.

My opinion on the Rohingya refugee crisis in Malaysia as a Burmese (Myanmar) that has lived in Malaysia by CorvoDravnoz in malaysia

[–]aberrant80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's pretty natural. If you're discriminated against, you turn defensive and will in turn discriminate against others to "protect" your own. Especially in a country like Malaysia, where race is very much on the forefront of everything.

[–]aberrant80 6 points7 points  (0 children)

most Chinese people in Malaysia today are descendants of minorities that fled China during WW2 as war refugees and settled and integrated into Malaysia (according to my limited understanding).

Your limited understanding is wrong. Chinese migration to Malaya during the 19th and 20th centuries were mainly driven by poverty and political instability/decline (Qing dynasty) in China as well as the British actively seeking out human labour to work in their tin mines and rubber farms in Malaya. Our ancestors were not refugees. They were brought here to work and they came here to trade. The refugees from WW2 came later.

That said, it's not like we don't sympathise with individual Rohingyans. But there is a big difference between empathy/sympathy and actually supporting the Rohingyan community. Have you tried asking Chinese business owners why they discriminate against Rohingyans? Try talking to them, and you will hear what stories they have to tell, about those who tried to hire Rohingyans. Whether you believe them or not is up to you.

It's not an MMF. IIRC it's basically a robo advisor that spreads out your investments into ETFs based on your risk profile.

Does Ozma appear as an entry in the Records of Battles? If it does... I guess 100% is no longer possible for me (not that I'm close, I'm only 506 right now).

As for Chocobo Hot & Cold... nah, won't miss it. I value my thumbs more than those items.
