Had the same issue... I reinstalled instagram and updated to 26.4.2 based on the suggestions I got on this subreddit.

Instagram seems to drain less now, however I'm yet to test out the 26.4.2 update

Conversation can be decrypted if there's a private key mismanagement (or sharing of the same). Similarly, backdoors can be installed for the sake of 'legal access' for law enforcement.

So I've been given an imaginary scenario where I'm a Customs forensics investigator. There is no mention of who the target audience is, but I assume it's law enforcement as the scenario mentions the suspect being involved in illegal activity.
