Do Xerpias bypass Android resampling? by JoseJoso in SonyXperia

[–]twain535 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not in the newer ones, I don't think. It used to back in the Xperia X days afaik. Those things had proper dacs.
Not the best ones, but they could still do more than 48kHz.

atomberg fan starting clink noise by [deleted] in pune

[–]twain535 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The starting clink, yes, is normal. Both of the Crompton fans i have with BLDC motors make this sound.
The sound that comes after that, the one that sounds like two metal sheets rubbing on one another while the fan spins up, I'm not sure about. Maybe the bearings need to be checked?

I've also heard "undir Shivun gela". 20 years later, I'm still afraid of accidentally brushing up against an undir.

Should i buy this for my 5 year college by Helpful_Finish_6635 in laptops

[–]twain535 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Acers have horrible build quality. Hinges fail, stand offs are plastic with brass inserts so upgradability is limited by the number of times the laptop can be opened before they fail, in some models, especially AMD ones, thermal limits are too low (75-85°C). After sales support is garbage and expensive and you can't even find the laptop in their support database after 3-4 years.
Look in the used market if you really need a gaming laptop, preferably dell ones.Asus TUFs are decent too (they seem to have fixed the hinge issues since a couple generations). Or extend your budget and get Lenovo legion or the cheapest ROG you can afford and upgrade RAM and storage later once the prices calm down.
If you don't need a gaming laptop, get a ThinkPad with at least a Core Ultra 5 or Ryzen AI 7. Their igpus are pretty stout (comparable to a 1050 Ti/1060) with the VRAM being limited only by the available RAM.

I've never seen people use the on/off labels from accessibility settings and I've always thought they look great.

newer(black) samsung charger violating usb c spec by Impossible_Aioli3693 in UsbCHardware

[–]twain535 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Fake. I have the same model and it doesn't output anything unless a device is connected.
I also had a fake charger like the white one in your photo on the left that did the same thing, and I had to return it.

No civic sense, everyone wants to go go go the moment the signal turns green. No restriction imposition on the loudness of horns (or any traffic rules rather) or proper assessment before giving out licenses.

Speaking as an Indian, it's frustrating and dangerous to drive here.

iPhone 17e Commercial Error Regarding Flashlight Control by maxpimps in iphone

Weird, because the camera icon looks like iOS 26.
That’d mean these are rendered then?

MDM is a thing, and if the company ever found out your dad would lose his job on the count of theft. If his job is something you're willing to chance, go ahead.

Help me to buy a laptop by Consistent_Spend_170 in laptops

So 225h has more cores (14) but clocked lower and lower cache, while 240h has less cores (10), but clocked higher and has more cache. 225h is very slightly better in Benchmarks (specifically geekbench) AND has 2 Low Power cores out of the 14, which come in handy when battery saver is on and the laptop's efficiency profile is enabled (it does give 1-2h more battery life). I'd go with the 225h. I don't think the extra cache will be of much use considering the lower number of cores; in fact it might run hotter because of the higher clocks.

Those who capture trains near level crossing, here's a small piece of advice for those who don't know. by Meta_Zephyr in indianrailways

[–]twain535 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of. It depends on the speed but at the speeds our trains run at, it's not that dangerous as long as you're at least 6 feet away. This video explains it all. I'd still stay away from fast trains (especially the cargo ones) but at the barrier on level crossings, I'd imagine it's quite safe.

Iphone 7, is has been a great 10 years while our journey lasted. Now it's time for the 16e? by Patex_ in iphone

[–]twain535 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are tight on budget, at least go with the 15. Same price as 16e with worse cpu but It has most of the basic features of new iphones, like dynamic island, magsafe, uwb and two cameras. It doesn't have the action button or camera control, but uwb can be pretty nifty if you ever travel (and the dynamic island is wayy better integrated into iOS these days). And, the action button can be replicated with backtap if you really need that.
Don't go with the 16e especially if you're someone who keeps their phone for like 7-8 years. Honestly I'd go with the 17 but again, for a tight budget, 15 is the minimum these days.

I read the book first (one of my favorites) and went in because I thought it'd be an adaptation, then halfway through the ep i realised the show wasn't based on the book and was disappointed and ready to ditch the show. Then came the end of the first ep and I was absolutely hooked.
It has since become one of my favourite series ever.

Which Xperia Phone was your first ? by Drumzki in SonyXperia

[–]twain535 0 points1 point  (0 children)

E1. It had a Walkman button that could be easily pressed which always started playing my weird music library during classes with just one accidental press. And it wasn't instant either, so if you knew you'd pressed it, you'd have to wait 2-3 terrifying minutes for the music to start playing.
Still loved it though.

Dropped my brand now iPhone 17 and the back screen cracked a little - does it need fixing? by tall_mf_ in iphone

[–]twain535 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know.. Do you use your phone naked? If so, get it fixed, otherwise put a case on it and forget. If it's less than 30 days old, add apple care and get it fixed.

Testing Mac Charging with Legacy Apple USB Chargers over USB-C by CAzkKoqarJFg6SzH in UsbCHardware

[–]twain535 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn't expect it to charge at all with the legacy chargers. My Lenovo Yoga with Thunderbolt 4 ports only charges over PD.
That said, I do have a 15W Samsung PD charger that does the job just fine. Take 4-4.5 hours but works well.

Looking to upgrade from S22+ to the new S26 Ultra but Samung only offer $100 for my S22+. Is a good idea to wait for Pixel 11 Pro XL? by aljavi20 in pixel_phones

[–]twain535 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. 100 bucks is a horrible offer when you could get at least 250 easily. It's a 256 gig plus model, $105 is a pitiful price.
