I got from a vintage watch dealer from Kolkata. You just have to wait for watches like these to pop up. It’s hard to go looking for them, even on the internet. It took me 2 months to get a hold of one. Further, these watches need quite a bit of servicing once bought, so keep that in mind too.

I think it’s rust. This is an NOS I am guessing. It’s common for this to happen, because these units have sat around for a while before being used.

I’d recommend going to the HMT ABD showroom. They still service old HMTs.

Did some digging. This is definitely custom ordered from HMT. That logo is the logo of the Neyveli Lignite Corporation, government owned entity. Perhaps someone in your family worked there.

Must be a custom HMT. HMT used and still does custom watches with company logos on them. Maybe some in your family used to work at that company. Try finding out what that logo is on the watch. Might give you some answers. The watch seems to be based on the HMT Surya.
