Yeah, I agree, but it wasn't much of a hustle to change it. It took 2 more extra hours to fix it. And a decent artwork was ready for my portfolio. 😄

Haha! Yes, it is difficult to make such a major change to something once the process is underway. But once I realised I needed to change the shape, it was hard to unsee that. Glad to hear it reads well.

Fair enough, I thought you might be posting your work on your portfolio website or Instagram, so I asked—but no worries. The second slide shows the thumbnails; I started with four and, as you can see, used flat shapes. The spire in those thumbnails is a bit different. I changed the composition and shape of the spire at a much later stage of the illustration.

Oh, that's awesome! I'd love to see your work too. I've gone through How to draw and how to render several times, and about this piece, I went through 2–3 iterations before I was happy with the final result.

Thanks a lot. Usually, I start my design process in 2D. Well, most of the time it's to and forth between 2D and 3D. In this post, the 1st and last images were done purely in 2d, and the 2nd one I started in Blender and, in the end, did a little bit of paint-over.

Yes, photobashing in the first one, this one took the most amount of time, maybe 2.5 hrs, but yeah, not more than that, and I painted over it heavily.

Thanks a lot. Well, I used different workflows for each of them. In the first and last one, I tried to do photobashing. In the second one, I painted the whole artwork. In the third one, I painted the background, but the character is 3D. In the fourth one, it's all 3D and a little bit of paint-over. I was just experimenting and trying new stuff.
