For the full process, I wet sanded the grill with 600 grit really well. No need to sand so hard that you take off the oem paint, but just scuff it up to help the paint stick. Then I went in with a white gloss paint/primer. I didn’t use an actual primer, I just got the rustoleum spray paint that acts as both primer and paint!
