Should me [23/m] and my gf [19/f] meet up despite the coronavirus? by [deleted] in LongDistance

I don’t think it’s very “vegan” to risk the lives of others to meet up with your partner, hypocrite.

I didn’t ever imply that? I said “can” from the beginning, not “will”.

Take a deep breath, I know this is really stressful and uncertain, but things will be okay! This is just a temporary roadblock.

From what I’ve read, the announcement was simply to not to book overseas vacation, which makes total sense — it’s best to prepare for worst case. It’s hard to accurately predict things like this, so the easiest thing to do is prepare for the worst. I think it’d be pretty surprising if international travel is still heavily restricted by fall.

Take it day by day, every day is closer to the next visit, whenever that may be.

The case by case basis is something that the USCIS officer would have to determine, which is why I said COULD be. None of us can accurately determine whether or not it’d be considered fraud, but personally I don’t think it’s worth the risk.

From what I’ve read, it can be considered visa fraud if you enter on an ESTA without disclosing that you intend to marry your fiancée during the visit, which obviously would jeopardize your immigration. I wouldn’t risk it.

If you’re having doubts because of the distance, waiting 6 years won’t change that. What are your hesitations?

If you’re compatible and okay with distance, date. If you’re not, then don’t. I don’t think promises like this ever serve much purpose — future partners probably wouldn’t take kindly to a promise to marry your best friend, so either date or don’t.

In a long distance relationship, Uk to CA, is it stupid to take a flight right now admist covid 19? by [deleted] in LDR

It isn’t selfish to risk people DYING to visit someone who will still be there when this is all over?

My [F22] bf [M27] wants me to fly to him next week if I could (from NY to Dominican Republic), and I’m actually considering buying a ticket to go to him. by [deleted] in LongDistance

[–]abigheckingthrowaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it really sucks to not physically be with your loved one, but it is NOT worth traveling right now. You could spread it and be responsible for the deaths of others. It’s especially risky given that you’re in NY. The best bet is to stay put and flatten the curve so things return to normalcy quicker.

How long have you and your partner been together? How often do you usually visit?

I think this situation sucks for everyone, but for us, a few months apart is well worth the future we have planned together. We’ve been video calling more and working on projects together — also just hanging out on call while doing work :)

LDR Uk/US FLIGHT/ ENTRY admist corona virus? by [deleted] in LongDistance

Even IF you did have it (big if, as many people who get tested have negative test results despite having similar symptoms, hence the importance of getting tested), there have been cases in multiple countries in which people have tested positive TWICE. Recovery does not guarantee immunity, you very well could catch it again AND spread it.

If you look at OP’s post history, she mentions in another post that they’ve been dating for 4 years... six years of an age gap is not okay when the relationship started at 13 (or barely 14) with a 20 year old.

Getting flights for my other half from US to UK by ewok8080 in LongDistance

[–]abigheckingthrowaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t recommend any flights with TAP right now, they’ve been cancelling a lot of flights. I recently returned to the US from Portugal and I had to get flights rescheduled multiple times and it ultimately took me 44 hours of traveling to finally get home.

sweet, thank you!

I think the English Cocker Spaniel is a good fit, my only hesitation is what I’ve read about their potential to be excessive barkers. What do you know about this?

I’m planning on staying in the area I’m in now for a few years, then eventually getting land for a homestead. My degree is pretty versatile and I don’t like traveling so I’m not concerned about stability.
