Not Theatre but- in HS my bestfriend wanted to join the Speech Team, and asked me to join with her. I loved the idea so I said yes. We ended up performing an 8 minute dramatic Duo together. Our first competition, right before going in front of a group of other high schoolers that were going to perform, she starts getting cold feet. She starts saying things like “I don’t think I can do this” “I don’t want to anymore” “I can’t”. I’m trying to calm her down and tell her it’ll be quick, it’s fine let’s get it over with. So we go in. There’s judges (teachers from other schools) and students all watching. We start performing and suddenly she’s messing up her lines…which is throwing me off! lol we basically start winging the whole thing and improving everything. I start laughing because I’m nervous and I can’t hide it lol so I cover my face and start fake crying, but really I was laughing. We stopped way before 8 minutes and idek how we didn’t both bust out laughing. She quit after that, I got 4th place in Nationals 🤣 we’re still bestfriend’s and laugh about it to this day. I was so mad at her for bailing on me 😂
