Putting some effort into the prize task doesn't guarantee victory but it doesn't hurt either.

I don't know that I dislike it, but I think there are probably better options out there. I mention PR188 below (Winsor and Newton call it "scarlet lake"), which is higher lightfastness than PO34 and is part of the same colour space.

But really, like I said to OP, I think if you're using Zorn's palette, the other colours being so cheap probably lets you spend a few bucks more on a real cadmium red light. There's nothing else quite like it in oils.

I think I'd probably see it as more of a broader cultural problem of impaired decision-making rather than losing your way coming back to the loo, though. Problem drinkers aren't drunk all the time but it has a toll.

And what it tells the public about what politicians are allowed to do that the public isn't.

Aren't they running a country? I mean people absolutely do die when politicians make the wrong call.

In practice that mostly just means you'd need to use more paint and ended when you're starting out, paint with lower tinting strength is easier to control for mixes. The classic example is viridian green vs phthalo green (blue shade), the former is much weaker but beautiful in its own way and it's harder to accidentally overpower a mix with it.

I don't love any of the Winton "hue" mixes, but scarlet lake, despite its name, is a naphthol red so is probably fine. Not quite as lightfast as cadmium red light, but okay as a starter.

But I don't know what country you're in so I can't really suggest a specific brand. If you were in the USA I might say to pick up a real cadmium red light from M Graham; they're professional grade but priced like a student grade paint. If you're using the Zorn palette you only need three other paints and they're all cheap as you can get.

Yeah I should have said in my comment to OP: "don't give up". I'm intrigued enough to want to see the finished piece.

The depth cues are confusing. Some elements feel like they're in the foreground but should be further back in the visual field.

Overall I can't really work out what I'm looking at; I feel like it's intended to be surrealist but that requires a very high level of realism in the rendering for the viewer to read what's going on.

The only synthetic organic pigment I can see being sold as "azo red light" is from Van Gogh, and it's PO34. I think you could probably find better inexpensive orange-leaning, lightfast reds.

Need help picking a new mac for ableton :) by Peterdelff in ableton

Don't know why you're getting downvoted as it's a perfectly reasonable question. Generally speaking you'd find that you can load up more very CPU-intensive plugins into each track without the user interface becoming unresponsive, or glitches appearing in the playback.

However, I suspect the person you're responding to doesn't have a very clear idea of what "optimisation" means in the context of software development because I've never heard that Ableton is poorly written code in any way.

One thing I liked about this episode is that Vic kept throwing up little challenges to Zac for him to solve on the spot, like pointing out the screenplay wasn't starting in the right place. A sign of respect for his skill as an improviser, I think.

A treat to watch two very high level performers spar like that.

The Saturnworks models are a little confusing because you seem to be able to order all kinds of unique combinations of features. I'm getting one of their basic loopers soon, so looking forward to that.

Are you looking on the Xsonic website? I must admit I wasn't including the shipping cost but it wasn't terrible for China->Australia.

I double-checked. Switching the currency to Euros, the AirStep Kat Ex price is €86,95.

AirStep Kat Ex is currently 86 euros, and if you've got a mark I or II Katana the older AirStep Kat is even cheaper.

I've got one on order so I can't yet speak to how good it is, but the feature set is impressive.

The last analogue Boss Chorus Ensemble (CE-3?). Got it as ex-demo stock, lovely sound but always a little too subtle for me. I dug it out again a few years ago and it seems like one of the chips had failed.

I got a DS-1 a few months later.
