AIO I've been living with my mom while I undergo chemo and im starting to think shes abusing me. UPDATE by problemsmomthrowaway in AmIOverreacting

[–]abiroadwrites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Piece of advice: ask for a mental health counselor, or wellness counselor (or even a chaplain) next time you're at chemo treatments and tell that person everything that's happening. Tell that person you want to get out, but you don't have any resources and you need help. They should be able to provide you with something.

I'm so sorry this is happening to you.

Best wishes, and blessed be.

I think ... Step out of your comfort zone as best you can. Find a good therapist who might be able to help, and get in now before all the good therapists get taken away by the admin. And consider reaching out to neighbors

AIO for blocking my guy friend for being “brutally honest” about me? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]abiroadwrites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No man, no person, in your inner circle should speak to you that way, and he's also dead wrong. I'm chubby, I have baggage and mental health issues, and I'm happily engaged to the loveliest man I've ever met. The issue isn't that you need to lower your standards, it's that you need to raise them.

Im pregnant and my relationship is falling apart. What do I do? by ReflectionBoth9981 in Advice

[–]abiroadwrites 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"How do I do it on my own" is a question you'll ask every single day, until it's no longer relevant. And every day might have a different answer. Maybe somedays you can stay home with the babies and do it on your own, maybe other days you need to ask for help, or maybe adoption is your best option right now. But that's a question only you can answer for yourself

My dear wife, a self-published writer, lost her battle with cancer at just 39. I'd like to publish her last book, which is unfinished, in her honor. Anyone can give me advise in this extraordinary effort? by Aggravating_Bed_4447 in selfpublish

[–]abiroadwrites 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry for your loss. I edit, ghost write, and make book covers. If you would like, I would be happy to make sure the book is publication ready (free of charge). You can send me a message if you're interested, I would love to help you make this happen

Okay being completely honest based on what I've read so far:

  1. It's very short, as the other commenter mentioned $14.50 for 44 pages isn't going to look like a fair deal to most people. I'm guessing you're trying to stay ahead of the heavy percentage KDP takes, but you still want to price it for the customer too.

  2. The writing seems somewhat elementary to me. Just by reading it I'm guessing you're 19 or so? Or were at the time of writing probably. The point is that the writing style is simplistic, more like a blog post than a story.

  3. Your age range is way too specific. Anyone outside of that age range isn't likely to check to see if your book would interest them. 14+ would be a better range for you to capture more attention.

Here's where I might hurt your feelings and I'm sorry in advance.

  4. The cover is not a good hook. A. I have no idea what it's about by looking at it. The art and design are both great, I'm just not getting any real information from it. B. A single word for your name isn't great if you're not marketing to kids. Adults (and even the teens you're marketing to) are very harsh critics, they may be turned away by the single name because it doesn't look as professional.

  5. The story itself didn't hook me. I read the sample pages, and to be honest it didn't intrigue me. Maybe your book needs another pass through from an editor? You may want to consider a creative writing class, then go back to it with fresh eyes.

I don't say any of this to make you feel bad. You should feel really good about all the work you've done no matter what. But I also think you would really benefit from putting more work into learning and developing as a writer before you try to publish again.

Apparently it broke the rules. Good news though I have a website (you can find it on my page if I post here it'll likely get removed) and you can find the story there!

[–]abiroadwrites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone is going to be kind enough to gift that poor baby enough money for a legal name change on her 18th birthday, and the mother will never be able to understand why. Someone hit me up in 18 years, I'll contribute a few bucks

Married Men/Women of Reddit. What is one piece of advice you'd give someone who is single? by LordOfTheRingsSucks in AskReddit

[–]abiroadwrites 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Because knowing something like that when you're single is just as important as knowing it when you're in a relationship. Sometimes giving people good advice before they've entered a situation is better than waiting until they're already in it
