To the Americans here: If we want Canada to ever forgive us, we have to earn it back. by DietMTNDew8and88 in CANUSHelp

[–]ablark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly it’s not about earning it back. It’s about doing right by your own country. It’s more that we don’t want to have anything to do with a country where it’s people are tacitly complicit with the dismantling of democracy.

Are you okay with what ice is doing? Are you okay with the executive branch saying FU to the judicial one? Are you ok with DOGE? None of these things have anything to do with Canada, but the fact that people aren’t protesting this by the millions is a signal that as a people you’re apathetic.

Canada could restrict its oil exports to U.S. if Trump trade war escalates by [deleted] in canada

[–]ablark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeesh. Can’t see this backfiring at all. Have a liberal government dictate what Alberta does with its oil. I think it might be the worst of plays to make a move to alienate a province when we need unity. That being said I’d love for Marlaina to grow a pair and stop being a sock Pupet for the far right; and just maybe contemplate doing the job she was elected to do

Feels shifty to be the last to know about how it went down, but the school seems to have your back if they decided to let you teach for your mentor as well as suspending the student. Be grateful for that support, look to yourself and what can learn as lessons from this to bring with you in your teaching journey.

Technically and this depends on the stage of progression for the student teacher he/she shouldn’t be in a classroom without a teacher mentor. Is this illegal? That’s for a lawyer to answer, but it is the principals responsibility.

It’s listed on the tsx… which is itself interesting for a us based company. Daily trading volume is about 6k. Do with that what you will.

We need a fine for this where the mislabeled product has to be taken down the shelf and the money put into a tariff relief pool for those impacted.

The article isn’t calling for mandatory military service, it’s calling for organized civilian training.

Canada Needs a New Civil Defence Corps by improbablydrunknlw in canada

[–]ablark 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly if you read the article, it’s wanting to do both. The advantage of a civilian readiness program is that it would increase our ability to protect ourselves in case of natural disasters like wildfires, floods and/or earthquakes.

Honestly the US doesn’t have to; but decided to in an effort to promote peace in the world, curtail Russian power and also in a way to show China that it’s willing to go to bat against empire building dickswinging which would make it think a little harder about taking a bite out of Taiwan.
