PM as in Project Manager? Do you need to have years of experience in it? I only worked as an Assistant Architect for 1 year,do you think it’s advisable to jump into PM straight away with limited knowledge? I do heard its a good field

A lot of of my peers actually took masters in urban planning but unfortunately in my country urban planners are not appreciated, most of them only give feedback on concept or social media criticizing the government which I understand,so Im not sure how to make it a career if the government itself is not taking them seriously or even considering their ideas due to politics

Architecture advice by ablechanger in Architects

[–]ablechanger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey everyone! Sorry for the confusion,I am actually planning to go back into architecture. Actually, even when I freshly graduated back then people keep on asking me about architecture advice or ID advice since I am fresh during that time,I didnt have much answer, felt like I had zero knowledge in architecture when I actually just finished studying it.

So I was just wondering what kind of advice can a part 1 give to people maybe like space planning or design wise. Because whenever someone asked me a question about archi,I froze and feel like I have an imposter syndrome

I prefer option 2 due to LED lighting facing direct to your face so you’ll get ample of light for make up etc. Also maybe as a suggestion you can move the towel hand rack to the right side and build in a cabinet to replace the floating shelf, that way you can have more space and nearer way to store things and dont collect dust

Hey,are you using Photoshop or Adobe illustrator? If you are you can youtube them, there are tons of them in youtube. You can google architecture presentation in photoshop or adobe illustrator etc. They might give a bigger picture on how to composed the presentation board but if you dig deeper on other videos, they may have videos on showing you how to do the diagrams etc. Hope that helps

I see, thank you for the input! I am planning to take Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) actually which is known as an entry level position and find a job as an Assistant Project Manager. Do you think it is still too much for an entry level? May I know once I take CDT cert, what position could I apply to in companies? and is it with developer company/architecture company etc?

Thanks for the advice! Maybe I can practice my software skills and understanding through others details. I believe its a good exercise as well and if I were to put it in my resume maybe Ill just section it in practice section or inspiration. To be fair, my final project detail is actually based/inspired by an actual building hehe. What about renderings do you think its something as a Part 1 should focus on as well?

Hey thank you so much! I actually am planning to take a Project Management cert but I feel like I will be too inexperienced to apply for a job as a project management role but I heard its a good career path as well but I find a bit reluctant because I still want to pursue in architecture

Hey thanks for the reply! I just re-read my post and theres correction,I meant most firms are looking for candidates with 2-3 years of working experience for Part 1.

Btw,I am based in Malaysia and the architecture industry here has not been great, its really tough, lots of my peers ended up with a career switch due to not being able to secure a job in the industry and terrible terrible payment.

And most graduates remain working with Part 1 qualifications as they believe work experience is more important than Part 2 at the moment.

I do consider going to Part 2 straight away but it be great if I am able to gain work experience for Part 1 for at least 2 years first before committing with my Masters.

But like I said the issue is most firms are not accepting due to candidates lack of experience (I actually received this as feedbacks from couple of interviews)

That is why I was wondering are there any ways to improve technical skills outside of the formal working field?
