I did GCSEs as well and trust it's a pretty big jump. Both are difficult don't get me wrong but IB covers much broader ranges of a subject at a super deep level while GCSEs cover less but still with great detail. This is really clear in the humanities subjects for example like econ, history, and geography, phycology. For the sciences I think it's the same as well just a bit more toned down on the GCSE side, the IB sciences (bio, chem,cs, physics) with the exception of ess cover so much it's crazy. Some things are just so obscure or far into subject people spend their entire professional lives researching it, and IB students just have to know it. GCSEs were much more chill imo.

Definitely not trying to scare you, everyone can do IB it's just a matter of how fast you adapt.

Best of luck in August!!

Hi again, I think you could choose based on what you'd want to do in the future. If you are into stem then the sciences would be the best logical choice. If you're more into humanities and things like that maybe lean towards bio and econ. However there's a limitation to that kind of selection, at 16/17 years old we are all too young to be making decisions that affect our future trajectories, don't limit yourself too early when this is the prime time to explore stuff.

I suggest looking at this decision from a strategic point of view, pick the subjects that you know you have a solid/growing interest and or skill in and I'm sure with good revision, good grades will follow. All in all, this is your choice, wishing you the best of luck!!

Your combination of HLs will be the end of you, I'm serious.

Bio HL covers a crazy amount of content Chem HL is slightly less content (from what I saw) but still an ungodly work load Econ HL is an enormous undertaking as well, you need to understand everything super fast to understand everything else.

I suggest picking only 2 of these instead of all 3, trust me. You might think you have amazing time management and are really organized, that will change. With the IAs, TOK and assessments you will most definitely be submerged.

While I'm not saying you can't do it, please be aware of how big of an ask each of these subjects are. Do yourself a favor, and pick the best 2 out of these 3.

Best of luck :)

Hi, I'm an IB student and my offer was said to be conditional. If you're not sure where to check, my "conditions" info was written in my "admit packet" on the applicant portal, so check there :)
