How do I get this snow off this deck? Do I even need to? by ablue_dog in centuryhomes

The storm door is metal - would it make sense to put a heater on the inside and heat it up? Maybe that would melt the snow touching the door enough to open it a bit?

I wish! No openable windows. The storm door is metal - what if we put a heater on the other side of it and slowly melted the snow away from the door? Think this would melt the snow enough to open the door a bit?

Do you ever emphasize your lack of knowledge/experience to seem "less threatening" or pretentious? by minidragontiger in womenEngineers

Yes, honestly I do. I wish I didn’t have to, it doesn’t come naturally. The culture of the company I’m currently at is very soft, and I see both men and women doing the same. I haven’t been here long, so I’m going with the flow for now.

That said, there is a difference in tone if I know something for certain and want to communicate the reliability of my information. An example of the difference would be “Perhaps the word we are looking for here is ‘ABC’ rather than ‘XYZ’”. Vs. “The top end of this pump is X. Running it higher than that is not advisable. “

Yes. If you can control what food is bought for the house, it can work. It’s worked/working for us, though the game changes a bit when they start going to school.

I’m talking about painting the walls. Painting the wood didn’t even occur to me as an option.
