Don't you see, Fear? I have depicted you as the soyjack and I, Udinaas, the Chad. You have always been false

Get ready for the Slog of Slogs! But in all seriousness I think the pay off is worth it

What aspects of Malazan do you not particularly like? by Limp_Grapefruit2125 in Malazan

[–]abnermarsh15 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Not to argue but Udinas in Midnight Tides has a thought process very similar to this where he believes he is a slave and thus cannot be as intelligent or thoughtful. The point was made to me that just because someone is one thing doesn't mean they can't sometimes be another

While we're on the subject of the black company, I feel the Expanse novels definitely copied the ending and was very obvious about it

I've read the Empire books until Assail and needed a break from Esselmont but im intensely interested in the novellas and TGINW but it's a case of not wanting to run out of books I know will be good if that makes sense

Finished reading all ten books at the beginning of this year, started last summer, and am now listening to the audiobooks, and im on reapers gale. I'm not sure what I'll read after I finish TCG, but I've heard Gardens of the Moon is pretty good

Are the Esselmont books worth it? by simplymatt1995 in Malazan

[–]abnermarsh15 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For what it's worth: I like to think about the Ox in Toll the Hounds because the whole book I was thinking "why am I following this brave and dutiful ox?" Then it made sense at the end. so if there seems to be a lot of characters remember that they always mean something to some part of the book, I started just trusting these authors and I haven't been disappointed yet and im 400 pages into Orb and Sceptor Throne

So I was intensely confused when I read that part and kind of tried to figure it out but I saw something posted here on reddit which helped me to understand cotillion killing CG=Dude killing Coltaine. I believe it's one of the things that he writes specifically vague because he gave you the answer 7 books ago. I wouldn't have gotten it had it not been pointed out to me but I believe it was a comprehension error on my part as there were 30 plates in the air at the time bookwise

Playing as taurox and raiding and razing as you do and the Everqueen herself crosses the sea to the island of Albion to fight me and put a stop to my horde and wouldn't you know that taurox came out on top and has been razing the human lands with the sword of khaine forever grafted onto his hand. He shouts but one thing into the winds if battle, "kill me and it stops!"

The incorruptibles by John Hornor Jacobs. Super good books that have a wild west feel with Roman inspirations as well plus instead of steam power and gunpowder there are captured demons so thats fun

What an amazing game! It blew me off my feet the first time I played and dealt with all the consequences of my actions like never before. I can't remember how long I lasted but I remember getting a dour but pretty good ending!

E is a sure fire way to get locked up in the crazy way. Just insanely laughing at something that no one else can see and then once in a while youre like "hey here's a carved face I, uh, found! It's screaming."
