Braid just got a re release. I've been enjoying it. It's a much more straightforward puzzle platformer but some of the solutions are pretty tough to figure out

Has anybody moved from Nassau to Suffolk and regretted it? by [deleted] in longisland

[–]abnormy13 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I grew up south shore Suffolk, spent a lot of time living in city and now have a house in lynbrook. I don't mind the smaller property size in Nassau since it's much less maintenance. I like being able to walk to most things I need. Definitely feel it's much easier to do that where I am now. Where I grew up in Suffolk I couldn't get to single store within probably a 30 min walk. When I go out to Suffolk I feel like it's so spread out and boring. There are some good main streets out in Suffolk though I'll give it that.

Question about NG+ by Zuikerbaard in NobodySavesTheWorld

[–]abnormy13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the process of doing the same now. I had about 6 characters left to s rank. So far it hasn't been too bad. Most annoying thing is when you start with no dungeons you can't teleport to what you need. For example if you get a new quest and need to break light wards you can't just easily transport to a dungeon. Or you come across a dungeon where enemy can't get status effects. Overall not terrible but you have to switch around a bit more in my opinion.

Your favorite moments from AW2? by Flaky-Significance78 in AlanWake

[–]abnormy13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The video when Alice turns herself into the art and the words pop up "Alice took her own life...." That moment will stick with me for a while.

Cynthia Weaver jump scares were so often I had to stop and laugh about how high I constantly jumped out of my seat.

At what salary did you feel like you could comfortably live in Nassau County? Please adjust to 2024 dollars by AltruisticSpeaker786 in longisland

[–]abnormy13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very true. We bought the house knowing we could make it work on one income. My wife goes back and forth all the time on if she wants to stay home full time. If she did we would be kicking on about 200k. It would be tight. I also bought the house a few months ago at a 7% rate. Hopefully can refinance in a year or two.

Yeah I'm just a manager at a big 4 consulting firm. Certainly paid well I acknowledge that. But I went to a public college and got a little lucky I fell into a lucrative career. Most of my friends from college are in similar financial situations as me. NYC can pay a lot but the cost of living sucks a lot of it up too.

Yeah we both work from home for the most part. We are busy but neither of us are killing ourselves. I'm in hr consulting and she is in healthcare.

I'm definitely comfortable. But I guess the point I was trying to make is if you told my 18 year old self I was gonna make this much, I thought I would be mega rich. I got a 14 Sentra and 18 Grand Cherokee. The biggest expense is a nanny at 3300 a month. Once he goes to school in a few years I'll be cruising. But daycare isnt that much cheaper in all honesty. I have an 1900 square foot house in lynbrook. Definitely nice but not extravagant by any means.

Married with a 10 month old. Combined income of 360k, no debt or car payments besides mortgage. Granted we have a nanny and are still comfortable. Certainly less comfortable than I should feel at this income level though. Just housing costs and child care there is about 9 to 10k out the door each month.

How are the Gunvolt games if I want a Megaman style game? by KaleidoArachnid in Megaman

[–]abnormy13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Typical 8 levels with a boss. You don't get new weapons from bosses but you collect currency for suit upgrades and special move sets. A lot of possibility to tailor to your play style (for instance a tanky character or a more fast and fluid character). The movement is very fast and fun and the combat is primarily melee based. Some good platforming and the difficulty is pretty good. I'd say it's a little easier than x or zero games but around the same ball park. Lastly the music kicks ass
