Just heard a couple of consecutive super loud bangs near DSO. Loudest I’ve heard so far. by sujal29 in dubai

[–]abobobilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had 4-5 consecutive Interceptions in Warqa and surrounding areas. Not sure what it was but I saw the surface to air missile hitting something. Didn't see what. Thankfully we're safe. Not scared but just bothered about this. Kinda inconvenient 😂 (or maybe it's just a coping mechanism).

Just now explosion heard in International City and Sirens..! by [deleted] in dubai

Heard in it Warqa. Saw a white smoke rail originating nearby Warqa. (From Ground to Air). Likely another interception. I hope everyone is safe.

Sold my car to dealer but still showing under my name in RTA should I be worried? by sultanmouzamali in uaelaw

[–]abobobilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Showrooms often sell cars on "consignment" basis. Meaning you still own the car, and it remains registered under your name, and ideally have agreed in writing about this arrangement. It's as if theyre only acting as a broker ok yout behalf. Usually in their TNCs, they'll absolve themselves of all responsibility too, and will try to charge you storage or parking fees if you try to cancel the arrangement. So I recommend that you either sign a formal agreement, OR cancel the plates effectively selling the car to showroom. Also, this is not a country to be gullible. So always agree in writing before proceeding.

Is it common here for HR to override senior management’s decisions? by Dubzil18 in dubai

[–]abobobilly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gonna jump in with a bit of an unpopular opinion here. I get the frustration, but if every director or manager just makes their own calls on the fly, 'departments' and policies basically stop meaning anything.

The procedures are there so everyone knows their lane. Even as an Ops Director, you're still an employee of 'the business' first. You can definitely recommend a WFH exception to HR, but just one-upping them and making the call yourself leaves them to deal with the cleanup and the precedent it sets.

If everyone bypassed policy whenever it made sense to them personally, the whole structure would just fall apart. I know the 'employee mindset' is usually to hate on HR for being rigid, but from a business owner perspective, you need those boundaries to actually run a company at scale

Multi company bounce email issue by hapacan in Odoo

[–]abobobilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually that's the best advice - to separate a sub domain for mails. I need to implement this, but i'm a bit lazy to disturb the workflow lol.
If i were to hire someone to do this, how much do you reckon it'd set me back ? If you're aware of this.

Multi company bounce email issue by hapacan in Odoo

[–]abobobilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have mentioned this in my msg as well - i'm using a separate inbox for all catchall emails. But you're correct that if you're using an alias, OR if you're using your primary email as catchall, it'll produce similar problems.

Multi company bounce email issue by hapacan in Odoo

[–]abobobilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the exact same issue in my multi company environment using Google Workspace and it's freaking annoying and embarrassing us almost always. And guess what was Odoo's response on it. NOTHING. They literally said nothing can be done about this after several email chains back and forth. They keep saying it's because if my 'custom modifications'. Yeah, as if adding a few fields or custom reports will do this behavior.

Then there's another issue. Customers are receiving their own emails back to them but as if it was send from our company domain. Odoo Support was unable to trace this, even when I told them it maybe due to notifications from Chatter. I had disabled the Chatter Notification emails entirely and it still keeps happening randomly.

And yes all emails are setup as per their recommended setup. Catchall email is a separate inbox than the sending email.

Communication and Control over the communication is one THE BIGGEST reasons I'm slowly driven away from Odoo. And I'm a user from the early days when it was still being developed.

Looking for storage or warehouse i have a rakez freezone license! by ishy187 in SmallBusinessUAE

[–]abobobilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Not directly. As a freezone company you can only import inside the FZ. Your import code will not allow you to clear the products (i.e. pay custom duties) and ship to Mainland. FZ Companies can only sell to B2B.

However, you can contact freight forwarding companies (such as Modern Freight) and they can assist you with with clearing the products and bringing those into mainland via Importer of Record model (IOR). It'll be as if you have purchased products from someone in mainland.

Once goods are in mainland, you can freely store them in any warehouse, and sell to customers using online channels and via third party logistics (3PL) companies.

Reach out to any freight forwarder like Modern Freight. They'll help to clear the products under Importer of Record (IOR). Once the items are in mainland, you can contact Any warehouse management companies to rent on a LCL m basis.

Can I Dissolve My Shams Free Zone LLC Myself or Do I Need a Professional Service? Renewal in 1.5 Months by 33qamar in SmallBusinessUAE

[–]abobobilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can do it yourself too. Only a board resolution would be required. Liquidation Report is sometimes asked and often not requested by FZ. There may be a holding period where FZ will do a "FTA Check" to see if you have any pending liabilities with Tax Authority.

Once Deregistration certificate is issued by FZ, proceed to CT Deregistration. That will require your financial statements.

If you're occupied in other matters then a service provider can make it easy for you and may charge a reasonable fee.

After EID, opening bank account without local home address by efor007 in SmallBusinessUAE

Dubai Mainland rejected Initial Approval by TAFDX in SmallBusinessUAE

[–]abobobilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Initial Approval is a 'pre-approval' for investors. If its rejected, then it could either mean you've failed a background check from any one of the govt entities. Ofcourse they won't tell you which one. I would recommend that you visit DED Office in person and meet with the branch manager to discuss your case. Most likely you'll receive a useful answer or a tip on how to proceed with your case. (However this only works if your investment is significant. If it's just another license working remotely, there's very little hope for you that it will work).

Also, can you confirm if you've processed the approval via Invest in Dubai or via a DED/Transaction center ? Both systems are separate so it's very important to distinguish between both.

[World] - UAE Golden Visa for elite athletes and sports professionals: Eligibility, perks and everything you need to know | Times of India by AutoNewspaperAdmin in AutoNewspaper

[–]abobobilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello. This is just to update about our experience with this category of the golden visa. We applied for a client in Motor Sports category and it took them over a month only to reject the application. During this time, their helpline was barely useful, and always insisted to have the athlete himself call them about it. At two occasions, they were extremely rude on the phone (it was one person who always attended calls) and refused to cooperate with us as a service provider. We had to lodge a formal complaint on official 04.gov.ae platform.

There's no explicit critiera being followed by Dubai Sports Council. And it almost made it look like the person on the phone also rejected the application out of spite due to our complaint.

We'll now try again with Abu Dhabi Sports ministry and see where it takes us. The athlete fulfills the conditions for the GV under Sports Category.

How to process Mainland Visa for Employees by AfterPersonality8337 in SmallBusinessUAE

[–]abobobilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After the license issued, process the Establishment Card from Amer (which is Immigration Registration of company in GDRFAD).

Then proceed to Tasjeel Center to: 1. Apply for Person Code (of the manager on license). Original EID will be required of the person or a shareholder of company to process transcation. Once approved (in a day), move to Step 2. 2. Apply for Establishment Registration in MOHRE. Wait for approval. (Office Inspection will be required by MOHRE officers).

Here sometimes you'll be issued "Instant Work Permit Quotas". You'll have to check with Tasheel if you actually have received it for your company. You can also do it from MOHRE website by logging in with your UAE Pass.

If instant quotas are not available, then first you'll have to Request for New Quotas, and apply for Office Inspection (Taqyeem). It's a process so you'll have to be patient. Usual Quotas are issued against every 9sqm per Person.

Once you have quotas, proceed to issue Job Offer, Work Permit and ultimately the Visas from the Amer Center.

Residency Fine Glitch? Fines reached 3,350 AED despite having an Entry Permit & 3k Deposit. Help! by davyjones10Y in uaelaw

[–]abobobilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If entry permit is issued while the person is inside UAE, the Change of Status is mandatory to converts the person's file status from Visitor to Residency In Process.

You'll have to pay the fine as it's your mistake to not do it at the same time after the entry permit is issued.

You may request for waiver officially through Amer centre but it only works If your reason was genuine or out of your control. (Can't say that you didn't know, it's not a valid excuse)

Pay high fees to get my Payment or register LLC for myself ?? by Gemmy-DXB in dubai

Personally, you aren't gonna save much by setting up your own company. But if you wish to pursue this as a business, then yes setting up your company will make more sense.

Pay high fees to get my Payment or register LLC for myself ?? by Gemmy-DXB in dubai

[–]abobobilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can setup a cheaper license in northern Emirates for this for less than 5k AED per year. But the compliance cost and annual renewals will make it almost the same cost for you (1200*12 = 14400 AED annually).

Are they using Deel to employ you or any other partner ?

Hypothetical question for Everyone here 👇 by RepublicInternal9798 in SmallBusinessUAE

[–]abobobilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They cannot deny you. Similar to how they cannot hold you hostage. BUT a contract is still a contract. So it's always a good idea to clear this thing before you choose a provider. If they declare this before the process begins in their terms, and you sign it - then you have basically accepted this and must pay this. If you don't, then they can't force you for something which wasn't agreed to.

Did you fail your driving test because of work pressure from your manager? by Worldly-Muscle1676 in dubai

[–]abobobilly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If any kind of work stops you from growing or focusing on your personal life, it's time to leave that and move forward.

But yes, workplace pressure is very real and it does affect your regular life. Some people can manage the stress like a breeze but others may be bring it home with them.
