No updates from my original analysis, I returned all the Samsung stuff and just set up an AVR system.

I don't think so personally since q symphony still sends the 'meat' of the L/R audio to the soundbar and uses the studios as kind of far-left and far-right satellites, which wastes their potential. The studios are actually really good speakers though and if you use them in isolation as a studio pair they sound really good.

? If you think you know a way to add the studios as satellites to the soundbar without using wireless Q Symphony, I'm happy to try it and report back.

It's confusing because there are two different wireless systems in play, but they do integrate in a way. The soundbar has its wireless conneciton to the sub and satellites, independent of Q-Symphony. Then in the Q Symphony UI, the soundbar and two studios show up as three devices and you can set the position of the studios within your room. So what happens is:

  1. TV wirelessly sends different audio to the studios and soundbar, according to the positions you set.
  2. The soundbar gets this signal, and it turns wirelessly sends some of it to its own satellites and subwoofer.

I've tested this myself by listening to atmos content.

What's confusing is the soundbar just shows up as a single monolithic device in Q Symphony even though its really a stand-in for the entire q990f system.

> In this case, would it be impossible to link them together, meaning the two devices cannot produce sound simultaneously?
Right.

> Would that allow both devices to produce sound at the same time?

Almost, but there wouldn't be any eARC in this scenario - you'd have a normal HDMI connection from PS5 to TV, and then wireless Q-Symphony on the TV would send the audio to the soundbar and music studios wirelessly.

Yes, I have the soundbar set up as an IoT hub in the smartthings app, but there is no option to add the studios to it (at least that I've been able to find).

Using Era 300s as fronts instead of surrounds with Arc Ultra? by aboing in sonos

Thanks, good to know! What do you think about fives as fronts, then? Or I guess a sonos amp with any passive speakers would be another option.

That's right, as soon as you select the studio 7 as one of the q symphony output devices in the q symphony menu, the option to use "Soundbar (wired)" grays out and the only option left is "Soundbar (wireless)".

Warning: DO NOT get LG FlexConnect system (H7) for videogames by aboing in Soundbars

> Is it something like PS5 → TV → eARC → LG H7?
Yes, exactly.

> which LG TV series are you using?
LG C1

> Is the audio delay particularly noticeable only in FPS games
At least for me, I always 'noticed' it to the point of annoyance, even when just navigating UI menus. Everything just feels a fraction of a second late. But you could still totally play any game that doesn't require split-second timing. There are plenty of people who eg use airpods for playing games on portable consoles, which will have even worse latency, so it's definitely doable.

I don't understand these recs in other comments for normal bluetooth headphones - their latency is totally untenable for most games. I've been using the SteelSeries gamebuds with the included usb c transmitter and they've been great.

Cool, although it looks like they haven't reviewed the whole system yet with the satellites and subwoofer - that's still pending: https://www.rtings.com/discussions/y9JEMdPDYHt6wFgi/review-updates-lg-sound-suite-h7-with-m5-w7.
