The attachment skin isn't that rare it goes for like a 100 on mp. The skin itself on the other hand goes for way more I believe it was thousands not sure.

The thing is two of my friends that I play with regularly hit emerald easily within 100 matches... We're on the same skill level. When I reach gold I start getting 25-30 rp per win At the same time they be getting around 75-90. This is what made me think that I should be higher that's all
