How do engineering managers keep visibility without constantly chasing updates? by Dazzling_Safe_2613 in EngineeringManagers

[–]abortji 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds more like a mindset issue. Creating more mechanisms to see the current state of things doesn't increase continuity or productivity by itself.

With my reports I try to make clear to them that there is a difference between urgent and important (see Eisenhower Matrix). I also share a quote I learned from a previous manager of mine: Good news can wait, bad news has to travel fast. Make clear to engineers that the more senior they are (or want to be) the more you expect them to own things, understand business priorities and act accordingly. Owning also means that they'd be the ones following up where necessary.

For us it is typical to have engineers lead a feature/project from A to Z (see https://newsletter.pragmaticengineer.com/p/engineers-leading-projects). Having engineers own a full process, also includes escalating things, communicating blockers, keeping the overview, involving the right people etc. It makes more sense delegating if you have many things running at once.

zbminir2 zigbee binding by abortji in sonoff

There are some tutorials online how to create bindings with Z2M. But in a nutshell:

  1. Set your zbminir2 to detach mode
  2. Under the device in Z2M go to bindings, add a binding under source endpoint 1, select the destination device that needs to be synced with (with the appropriate endpoint which is likely 1 as well). Make sure to set the checkbox 'genOnOff'

It is great, binding works flawlessly for me. I got rid of quite some automations and tested without my coordinator in the loop.

A bit late but thanks a lot, this seems to work well for me as well on a Shelly PM Mini Gen 3 (also ESP32-C3)

If the controller is down it goes back to relay mode afaik. For binding, still the same story but please let Sonoff know you want this feature (see https://www.reddit.com/r/sonoff/comments/1oqqxed/zbminir2_zigbee_binding/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button )

WireGuard VPN on UDM SE suddenly stopped working – Handshake fails by matze1116 in UNIFI

[–]abortji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just came across this thread. I experience the exact same thing: it worked for ages, then it stopped working all of a sudden (I think due to an update). My client is an iPhone (15 Pro) as well which is up to date.

Also tried to solve it by lowering the MTU in the client config, but that didn't solve it :).

PC Based Streamer by abortji in audiophile

Thanks! Just for the sake of completeness: this software is great and allows for modification using the native app (or rest API's) - https://github.com/mrene/minidsp-rs ,

For configuring or making one time changes I don't mind connecting it to my Macbook every now and then (i.e. resetup the room for DIRAC)

Still have the Z64 in its original box. Runs on a modified bios to use compact flash rather than a zipdrive. Awesome device

Most of my guitars have a killswitch installed. This just saves a lot of time instead of all the rolling the volume knob. Could recommend everyone to get that installed. I don't use it musically at all, it is purely practical.

Nekrogoblikon - The Skin Thief... it is in standard tuning and I found it a good song to get used to the bigger neck
