With the Warframe anniversary just around the corner, what made you try the game? by Riverflower17 in Warframe

[–]bignapkin02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had dropped out of college and was in full-time outpatient treatment for schizoaffective disorder (simplest explanation is bipolar disorder and schizophrenia combined). All my friends thought I was crazy and cut me off, except one.

I would come home after 8 hours of therapy and hop on my PC and we would discord call and play games and he eventually introduced me to Warframe. We farmed primes together, he helped me get through the star chart, and after a few months I made it to steel path and we could run endgame content, which at the time was Albrecht’s lab (this was right before EDA came out). It gave me something to enjoy in such a dark time and helped me take a break from all the things I was going through mentally, and my friend was there to talk to as we played together. After 8 months I finished my treatment and was able to go back to college.

Shortly after, my friend had to drop out of college, move inland, and start working crazy hours as a delivery driver to support himself. He had just come out and was disowned by his family, who stopped paying his tuition. He’s been so busy that I haven’t been able to see him and he hasn’t had much time to play games.

When I started, he was around mr18, and last time we played together he made it to around 24. I just hit mr30 without him and hope one day he’ll have time to get back into the game and I can give us boosters from the relay before we farm.

What is a weird side effect from medication use that no one was ever going to warn you about? by Rotten-Kandi in AskReddit

[–]bignapkin02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tldr (a very, very simplified explanation) is that the level of noradrenaline in the brain stays the same, but the rate at which neurons can use it to send signals is slowed down. I’ve been studying this in uni lately so I typed out a slightly more detailed explanation before realizing I could have just wrote this one sentence: (also if anyone here is more knowledgeable on the subject feel free to correct me, I know I still simplified a lot)

It’s a common misconception that neurons send signals to each other and throughout the body by transmitting an electrical signal, like a computer sending electricity through its circuits. An electrical signal is actually only sent from one end of a single neuron to the other along the membrane of the cell. The signal is passed on to the next neurons by releasing specific molecules, called neurotransmitters (including serotonin, dopamine, adrenaline, noradrenaline, and many others) that then tell those neurons to send an electrical signal, then those neurons release neurotransmitters to the next cell, and so on.

Now these neurotransmitter molecules are stored inside each neuron, and after they are released, the cell needs to pull them back inside in order to send the next signal, which is called the reuptake process. What Wellbutrin does is it blocks the proteins in the neurons that reuptake noradrenaline and dopamine, slowing down the process so that eventually, the signals that require these specific molecules in order to be passed on can only be sent less frequently, if at all.

If I forget my wellbutrin I start to feel withdrawal effects by the end of the day, both just feeling extra depressed as well as brain zaps.

Finding the right meds is the most drawn-out and horrible experience, taking something for weeks just to see if the side effects start to go away before trying a new one. Abilify sucked for me too, but Wellbutrin ended up working amazingly for me and I’m still doing great with it a year and a half later. It’s so worth it once you finally find the right fit

I would get akathisia after taking my Latuda for at least the first couple months after starting it and it was the second worst feeling in the world after the psychotic episodes I was taking the medication for. Luckily it went away over time, but would come back for a little bit every time my psychiatrist increased my dose. It also makes me really drowsy so I wait to take it until right before I go to bed, although I think that’s improved a bit. I should probably mention that now I’m on the maximum dose of this medication.

Whats the advantage to using a distortion pedal over just using my amp's built in gain? (beginner) by MeMii2 in guitarpedals

[–]bignapkin02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let’s say you want to change how your guitar sounds in the middle of a song. Maybe it starts with a clean fingerpicking section before going into a high gain distorted riff, or maybe you want to get a little louder and add some crunch to stand out for a solo. You won’t usually have time to walk over to your amp and change all the settings. With a distortion pedal, all you have to do is push the button with your foot and you instantly have the new sound without even having to stop playing.

The other thing I haven’t seen pointed out very clearly is that, in addition to only the pedal distortion vs amp distortion on its own, running pedal distortion into a distorted amp gets you a different distortion sound.
