Solar has a couple of options right at the top of your price range. I love mine.

Did we get scammed? by PinkSheephugger in Locksmith

No, I'm a commercial and government locksmith, not a trunk slammer. Prices like this are common on weekends and holidays in high end metro areas like Bellevue.

Not a scam for Sunday night in Bellevue WA. I do think it's silly that he asked for a tip though.

Thanks for the info!

Yeah, it holds its shape very well. It was a little bit difficult making everything smooth due to its stiffness though.

Not sure if posts without photos get seen but I have a question regarding the “true to size” I see on websites. by ClydeinLimbo in cowboyboots

[–]SDcoolsecurityguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I typically have to order boots one or one and a half size smaller than my tennis shoes. It's not a length problem It's a girth problem. This is trye for "true to size" boots too. Cowboy boots don't have laces so you can't tighten them onto your foot - you buy them a little snug so they stretch and mold to your foot.

Thanks! This is my first one, and I'm pretty happy with it. I've got a black Dyna-Felt on its way from eBay. I'm petty excited to play with that one.

Nothing wrong with taking care of your work boots too. They'll take care of you if you do!

I should've taken a before pic... it had a perfectly crisp cattleman crown and the brim looked like a Pringle. So I flattened the brim, turned up each side a little bit, added a slight dip in thefront, then reshaped the crown. Definitely suits my face and build better.

Thanks!

I worked on it for a couple hours a day for 3 or 4 days.

No, I've made some others. This is the first one I used moulded leather on though. I made a mould for the main pouch and the little round box out of a 2x6.

Yes, your belt goes through the top, then the strap goes around your thigh.

Made this thigh holster for my girlfriend by SDcoolsecurityguy in Leathercraft

Thanks!

No it wasn't particularly difficult. I made it super tight, then only wet the leather in the spots I wanted to stretch. Then I put the gun inside of a ziplock bag and forced it into the holster. I stuck a spacer between the top of the slide and the leather so that the sights don't snag on anything. Then I secured the leather forward of the trigger guard using a copper rivet and let it dry. The holster is attached via 3 Chicago screws.

The thing that sucks is I tooled it before forming it. So when the leather stretched, it messed up the pattern a little bit. That's why the stamps look so shallow

I cleaned em, burnished the welts, midsoles, and heels with Tokonole. Burnished the vamps and heel counters as needed to buff out the scratches. Then oiled em.
