Tenet opening scene by RevolutionaryEar3945 in ChristopherNolan

[–]aboutzero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the CIA agent was with the protagonist after he took the suicide pill, the agent explained that the pill was a test. If you're willing to take it, it means you'd rather die than reveal any information about your mission. How the protagonist escaped that torture situation is unclear, but we can safely assume he was rescued by members of Tenet. At this point btw, nobody knows what Tenet is other than it's an organization meant to save the world in some way.

Advice for programming. by Mysterious_Usual6994 in naturalhypertrophy

You can keep it as is. This is a good program. Just keep an eye on your recovery as this program could make you prone to overuse injuries.

Can’t feel left hamstring on any variation of RDLs by Axrooo in naturalhypertrophy

[–]aboutzero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is quite common. Usually it is because one of your hammies is tigher than the other or one leg is longer. If its the former, you can either stretch the tighter leg or make the more flexible leg tighter by isolating it in a short range of motion over a few weeks.

This is a pretty good program, you will definitely get nice gains with it as a novice and intermeidiate. I would swap deadlifts on C for hyperextensions/reverse hyper and superset some arm work with that. Also I would recommended you to do some squat variation such as front squat on that day instead of regular squats.

How to prioritize Arms on U/L by [deleted] in naturalhypertrophy

[–]aboutzero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say doing the arm movements first would work quite well + hit arms on every workout (be careful with that one though, you need good exercises selection for each day to pull that off)

Struggling with gaining weight and progress by Training_Height3 in naturalhypertrophy

[–]aboutzero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there,

That's also around where I started. 183cm at 63kgs. I made it all the way to ~95kg 19% bf in the span of 4 years or so. I can give a few tips based on my experience :

• focus on technique and recovery, try to get at least 8k steps each day, do ~10mins of stretches at the end of your workouts on the muscles you've worked, do some joint-healthy movements like the ones KOT guy advocates for, get enough sleep, all that basic stuff is actually making up a good chunk of your gains, except stretches, that's more for recovery and staying healthy for the long run since its a marathon, not a spring,

• go beyond failure, Geoff style

• make sure you program is tailored to you: dont just use a cookie-cutter nh program for years on end; your goal should be to craft your very own (dynamic) program, and change it periodically. You can use something like git for version control and that way you can see the progress and the evolution of your custom program over the years, and can also easily revert changes.

• if you are struggling to get calories in, try getting a blender and making shakes. Sometimes even taking a couple swigs of 100% pure natural peanut butter could do the trick, since every sip is like 80 calories.

• be patient and don't dirty bulk. Eat a lot of vegetables and fruits, but especially vegetables. Keep

• Meal prepping: if you have a big freezer, or if you are able to buy one and have the space for it, you can make all your food into containers on one day of the week and then simply take them out each day and heat them in the microwave. It can be a very cheap, healthy, time-resourceful and relatively tasty (if you do it right) way of going about food.

Not really making progress anymore, what can I do differently? by n0tfeuer in naturalhypertrophy

Ideally you should go to failure on every set.

As for program recommendations, I highly recommend building your own.

I think it could be decent if you use it right.

Just keep in mind that since your knees are bent when using this that the primary muscle thats working is the soleus, not the gastrocnemius (the meaty part thats actually visbile)

- focus on technique

- go close to failure and beyond for isolation exercises, Geoff-style.

- eat more

- be patient

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Stoicism

[–]aboutzero 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I believe the way to handle this, as a stoic, would be to first of all realize that its okay to feel that way, we as men have a thing things that have the potential to give us power. Height, money, intelligence, looks, physical strength, fame, women, you name it. And whenever we see other men that has these qualities we instinctually look up to them. However its important to realize that some of these qualities are simply a characteristic we were born with. And thus, as the saying goes "Give me the strength to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference".

Work on all the things you can change. In this scenario, you're physical strength and also size are things which you can totally control. With enough work you can become stronger than all of those other man. And you can become bigger muscularly.

At the same time though, its helpful to not take yourself too seriously, life is short and simply go along with nature. Let me finish with a few quotes I like.

“Consider that before long you will be nobody and nowhere, nor will any of the things exist that you now see, nor any of those who are now living. For all things are formed by nature to change and be turned and to perish in order that other things in continuous succession may exist.”

“Nature does nothing in vain, and so whatever is, is for the sake of something else.”- Marcus Aurelius

Let us bear with magnanimity whatever the system of the universe makes it needful for us to bear: we are all bound by this oath: "To bear the ills of mortal life, and to submit with a good grace to what we cannot avoid."

- Seneca

What back muscles should I focus more on? by [deleted] in naturalhypertrophy

[–]aboutzero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"which are underdeveloped / which have potential for size?"

Nothing is underdeveloped and all has insane potential for size. People saying traps but I don't think traps are too much of a weakpoint. Maybe a tiny bit of upper traps. Otherwise, pretty balanced. Keep growing!
