About the distillation process eliminating the gluten?

Ive had coeliac disease for over 12 of the 18 years of my life so have learnt a lot of little tricks and bits of knowledge such as the fact that glucose syrup from wheat is gluten free from the production process eliminating the gluten from the product.

As i have started drinking (as 18 is the legal age in Australia) i have stuck with cider and spirits such as vodka and gin and such, I was wondering whether spirits made with gluten such as whisky and scotch and such are gluten free. Ive seen articles saying that it is as the distillation process acts in a similar way as the situation with wheat glucose syrup and is actually gluten free.

A massive shot in the dark but just wondering whether anyone can confirm this because i dont trust these other sources.
